The launch of Coinbase’s tokenized stocks trading feature has generated considerable momentum across the industry. As the largest exchange in the U.S., with an estimated 100 million users, Coinbase has made it clear that tokenized stocks are set to have a major impact on the broader equities market. In addition to this news, Ondo Finance also announced plans to launch a stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) trading solution on the Solana blockchain in 2026.
The clear technical advantages of trading stocks on a blockchain—including faster settlement, improved transparency, and global accessibility—have driven growing demand for platforms offering secure and reliable solutions. This demand has been demonstrated by the <a href="https://www.edel.finance/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Edel Finance</a> testnet, which has seen more than $1.5 million in tokenized mock stocks traded just days after launch.
This article explains how tokenized stocks are being accessed and used across three leading platforms: Edel Finance (<a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/edel/" rel="noopener noreferrer">$EDEL</a>), Coinbase, and xStocks.

Projections from several respected research groups, including McKinsey and Standard Chartered, suggest that the tokenization market could see rapid growth in the coming years, with some estimates placing its valuation well above $20 trillion by 2030.
Much of this potential growth is driven by blockchain technology’s ability to improve how stocks are traded, managed, and leveraged, while also enabling new income opportunities through on-chain lending and borrowing.
Key benefits of tokenized stocks include faster settlement, global access, increased transparency, and programmable financial functionality that is difficult to replicate in traditional equity markets.

Edel Finance offers a decentralized option for buying stocks and earning yield. The platform can be viewed as the Aave of tokenized stocks, providing a one-stop solution where users can buy tokenized equities and then earn yield on them through lending and borrowing features.
“In traditional stock markets, the yield generated from lending and borrowing is largely captured by intermediaries, not individual traders,” said Andrés Soltermann, CEO of Edel Finance. “Edel is built to change that by giving everyday users direct access to on-chain securities lending and the income it generates.”
The Edel testnet went live last week and quickly demonstrated strong demand. Its initial 3,000-user limit was reached within days and has since been increased to 5,000, as more than $1.4 million in tokenized mock stocks were traded on the network.
Anyone can join the testnet right now by joining the project’s <a href="https://t.me/edelfinance" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">official Telegram</a> channel and finding an access code.
The testnet shows how the live product is expected to function, making it simple for users to trade and lend tokenized stocks on the Base blockchain with low fees, strong security, and simulated daily interest. At the center of this ecosystem is the $EDEL token, which provides both utility within the platform and exposure to the growth of Edel Finance as adoption of tokenized stocks accelerates.

Last week, rumors surrounding the Coinbase tokenized stocks venture began circulating, and days later, the feature went live on the largest crypto exchange in the U.S. The launch delivered a major boost to the tokenization market, as it potentially gives around 100 million users direct access to tokenized stocks through Coinbase.
The initiative forms part of Coinbase’s broader “everything app” strategy, positioning the platform as a centralized exchange where users can buy and hold on-chain stocks alongside other digital assets within a single interface.
The scale of Coinbase’s user base significantly increases visibility for tokenized equities and is expected to accelerate adoption across the sector. This expansion could also benefit platforms like Edel Finance, which offer additional functionality that allows tokenized traders to generate income through lending and borrowing rather than simply holding assets.

xStocks has been one of the most important players in the tokenized stocks market over the past year. The platform has provided a clear path to tokenization, and several other projects, including Edel Finance, have partnered with xStocks to facilitate their own solutions and deliver additional utility to traders.
At its core, xStocks focuses on providing on-chain exposure to stock-like instruments using DeFi-native architecture while relying on centralized exchanges for user access. This approach plays a key role in expanding permissionless access to tokenized stocks, particularly for users outside traditional financial systems.
xStocks is also considered approachable for newcomers to tokenized equities, as it can be accessed using the most popular centralized crypto exchanges, including Kraken and Bybit and DeFi wallets.

Trading tokenized stocks has become a perfectly viable option over the past few months. The Coinbase tokenized stocks venture has potentially opened the door to large-scale adoption, while Edel Finance is bringing additional utility to the market through its lending and borrowing services. All three platforms mentioned in this article are suitable for both beginners and experienced traders looking to build tokenized stock positions, but Edel Finance is where traders can begin generating real value from blockchain-based assets by earning steady APY through lending their stocks.
<h2 id="a-rel-noopener-noreferrer-nofollow-a-faqs"><a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"></a>FAQs</h2>
Are tokenized stocks a viable option for both new and experienced traders in 2025?
Yes. Tokenized stocks now offer real functionality beyond experimentation, including faster settlement and on-chain ownership. New traders benefit from accessibility, while experienced traders can leverage advanced tools such as lending, borrowing, and portfolio optimization.
Which platform is best for trading tokenized stocks depending on trader experience?
Centralized platforms like Coinbase provide straightforward access for beginners, while DeFi-native platforms offer more flexibility. Traders seeking additional utility such as yield generation may prefer infrastructure platforms that support lending and borrowing of tokenized equities.
Can traders earn passive income from tokenized stocks rather than just holding them?
Yes. Certain platforms allow tokenized stocks to be lent or used as collateral, enabling traders to earn yield without selling their positions. This adds an income-generating layer not typically available in traditional equity markets.
