Low-risk, simplified DeFi products are increasingly emerging as a potential bridge between crypto and everyday financial users, with industry figures pointing to one-click yield vaults as a key contender for mainstream adoption in the following market phase.
Abbas Khan, a founder at the Ethereum Foundation, recently highlighted one-click yield vaults as a likely breakout product, arguing that ease of use and familiar financial framing could accelerate adoption beyond crypto-native users. The format allows users to deposit assets and earn yield automatically, without actively managing strategies, protocols, or risk parameters.
The view reflects a broader shift across Ethereum-aligned builders toward practical financial applications rather than speculative products that dominated previous cycles.

Shift toward low-risk DeFi

The renewed focus on yield vaults echoes recent commentary from Vitalik Buterin, who has argued that Ethereum’s most sustainable use case and long-term revenue engine may lie in “low-risk DeFi.” He has also urged the blockchain community to simplify the Ethereum protocol to preserve genuine trustlessness, warning that excessive complexity undermines the network’s core promise of decentralized reliability.
This category prioritizes savings, payments, and lending tools designed for everyday use, positioning crypto as financial infrastructure rather than a speculative asset class.
One-click vaults fit this narrative by abstracting away DeFi complexity. Users interact with a single interface, while the underlying protocol handles yield generation, portfolio rebalancing, and risk management. This structure lowers the barrier to entry for users unfamiliar with yield farming or liquidity provision.

Adoption data suggests growing momentum. A report from Kiln Finance shows that one-click yield vaults recorded approximately 28x growth over the past year, expanding from under $150 million in June 2024 to more than $4.4 billion by July 2025. This growth rate significantly outpaced the broader DeFi market over the same period.
Even modest yields from these vaults compare favourably with those of traditional savings accounts in many regions, strengthening their position as an accessible alternative to legacy financial products.
