On the other hand, the Sandbox is a renowned blockchain-based metaverse platform that lets users create, own, and monetize their gaming experiences and digital assets. It combines elements of gaming, NFTs, and decentralized finance on the Ethereum blockchain. Users can build, explore, and interact within the virtual world, purchasing and developing virtual land and creating and trading assets like NFTs.

The Sandbox functions as a “play-to-earn” ecosystem, allowing players to build games using the free Game Maker software, curate voxel-based assets with VoxEdit, and sell their user-generated content as NFTs on the platform’s marketplace, all using the native SAND token. The Sandbox is known for its decentralized, blockchain-powered virtual world, which allows crypto users to build, own, and monetize their creations and experiences using NFTs.

The Sandbox and Casio announced their partnership to launch the virtual G-Shock non-fungible token avatars collection in the Sandbox Metaverse last month. Under this collaboration, the Casio NFT team anticipated leveraging the Sandbox NFT capability to create the G-Shock Droid series in the metaverse. The Sandbox and G-SHOCK will launch their highly anticipated robot-inspired avatar collection in The Sandbox on September 24, 2025.

The highly anticipated “G-shock and the sandbox” NFT collection will feature drawings from five of the brand’s most iconic styles, including DW-5600, DW-6900, GA-110, GA-2100, and the oversized GA-V01. Each NFT avatar series will feature a unique look and offer gameplay enhancements exclusive to The Sandbox NFT ecosystem. This NFT collection will give users access to the metaverse city.

The new ‘G-shock x the Sandbox’ metaverse city will bring to life the thrilling story of “toughness” and evolution. It will feature a time-travel adventure through 1983, 1995, and 2010, with a survival race recreating durability tests. The Sandbox and G-shock metaverse collaboration is proof that the metaverse has moved beyond the initial hype and is evolving into a more niche and industry-driven technology. The metaverse sectors recorded more than 13,000 NFT users in August 2025.
