According to analyst Benjamin Cowen, the week Ethereum reached its all time high also marked the local low for altcoin pairs.&nbsp;</p><p>During that period, altcoin pairs against both Bitcoin and Ethereum declined, while Bitcoin dominance climbed higher. He added that Ethereum could test its 21 week EMA by late September or early October before another potential rally attempt.</p><h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="altcoins-losing-relative-strength">Altcoins Losing Relative Strength</h2><p>The TOTAL3/ETH ratio, which measures altcoins excluding <a href="https://cryptofrontnews.com/bitcoin-ethereum-and-dogecoin-drive-crypto-buzz-amid-etf-and-gold-moves/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin and Ethereum</a> against ETH, shows this change. However, once Ethereum reached its all time high, altcoins also peaked. The ratio has since fallen sharply, dropping to around 1.68.&nbsp;</p><p>Moving averages on the weekly chart rolled over into a bearish crossover, which accelerated the decline. The ratio now attempts a rebound from these levels, though analysts note resistance near 2.0 remains crucial.</p><h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="oversold-indicators-flashing-on-others-eth">Oversold Indicators Flashing on OTHERS/ETH</h2><p>Another perspective comes from the OTHERS/ETH ratio, which measures capital flows between Ethereum and broader altcoins. Historical lows have coincided with global or market stress events.&nbsp;</p><p>In 2020, the Covid crash pushed the ratio near 110. During the 2022 bear market, it bottomed close to 100. Mid 2023 <a href="https://cryptofrontnews.com/nearly-1-billion-in-crypto-liquidations-triggered-by-tariff-shocks-and-weak-job-data/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">tariff concerns</a> caused another sharp dip. The current drop in 2025 has brought the ratio back toward the same 100–110 support range.&nbsp;</p><p>Technical data shows the RSI near 25.9, well below the 30 oversold levels. Each historical dip below this level has preceded rebounds in altcoins relative to Ethereum.</p><h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="analysts-assess-market-rotation-patterns">Analysts Assess Market Rotation Patterns</h2><p>Crypto Rover noted that altcoins have never been this oversold, not even during Covid, tariff shocks, or <a href="https://cryptofrontnews.com/dogecoin-at-crossroads-will-bulls-drive-price/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">the 2022 bear market</a>. The steep weakness shows how capital has rotated back into larger assets, especially Ethereum.
