The meme crypto sector tanked heavily on Wednesday Asain trading hours following the lead of the biggest digital assets Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). The cumulative <a href="https://news.todayq.com/pepe-bonk-helps-meme-cryptos-to-recover-can-it-push-bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">meme crypto</a> market dropped by more than 12% over the last day to stand at $42.7 billion. However, its 24 hour trading volume saw an uptick of over 43%. Meme crypto plunges by over 12% 
The biggest meme crypto, Dogecoin (DOGE), saw one of the hardest drops in a 24 hour time frame. DOGE price plunged by over 12% in the last 24 hours. Elon Musk’s favorite meme token price has dropped by more than 23% over the last 7 days, while it is down by 40% in the past 30 days now.
DOGE is trading at an average price of $0.1245, at the press time. It is down by 83% from its all time high (ATH) of $0.737 recorded on May 08, 2021. Dogecoin’s 24 hour trading volume saw a surge of 75% to stand at $1.7 billion. It is holding a market cap of $18 billion.
The second in line, Shiba Inu (SHIB) is also struggling to keep up despite a surge of 104% on the year to date (YTD) basis. SHIB also saw its price fall by 12% in the last 24 hours. This drop has added to its decline of 22% registered over the past 7 days.
The recent plunge comes in when Shiba Inu price has gained 134% in the span of the last 90 days. This suggests that investors’ interest was there in the second biggest meme crypto but somehow market sentiments swung away.
Shiba Inu is trading at an average price of $0.000021, at the press time. Its 24 hour trading volume is up by 50% to stand at $833 million. SHIB is holding a market cap of around $12.3 billion. Pepe’s decline 
The same has happened with the new emerging meme coin in the market. PEPE recorded a surge of over 560% in the last 90 days. Meanwhile, the recent slump in the industry has dragged PEPE to drop by 22% over the past 7 days. Its price dropped by another 16% in the last 24 hours.
PEPE is trading at an average price of $0.000006, at the press time. Its 24 hour trading volume is up by 28% to stand at $980 million. PEPE is still the third biggest meme crypto with a market cap of $2.58 billion.
