However, a detailed report scrutinizes the protocol’s implementation while revealing deviations from the design description and raising concerns about its security properties. Solana in trouble? 
According to the research conducted, <a href="https://news.todayq.com/top-10-cryptos-of-2023-solanas-bonk-tops-the-list/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Solana has seen increased attention</a> within the crypto community. The research delves into the intricacies of Solana’s consensus protocol, highlighting the challenges posed by insufficient publicly available resources to comprehend its details fully.
The research conducted on a local Solana testnet explores various experimental scenarios and confirms suspicions that the blockchain may not fully achieve consensus. One noteworthy revelation is the potential ability of a single malicious validator, once elected as a leader, to halt the Solana blockchain.
The research also highlights inconsistent behavior that cannot be readily explained by known consensus rules.
It added that the study aims to understand and analyze Solana’s protocol and its consensus rules. The analysis relies on official documents. This includes the whitepaper, documentation, and the reference implementation. Discussions with project maintainers and validator administrators from official communities on Reddit and Discord further contribute to the research. Suggestions for the blockchain 
The findings raise concerns about the reliability and decentralization of Solana particularly in situations necessitating centralized manual intervention. Despite being in beta, Solana now holds a market cap of around $46 billion exceeding $20 billion. SOL is trading at an average price of $107, at the press time.
The report suggests that duplicate handling, especially with the largest fork at stake distributions of 52% or less, needs to be adequately addressed by the consensus protocol. However, it encouraged further exploration of scenarios using the same setup to understand protocol behaviors better.
Future work could analyze additional edge cases, quantify risks of denial-of-service attacks based on identified protocol behaviors, and scrutinize Turbine, Solana’s block propagation mechanism.
SOL’s impressive 900% growth in 2023 faced signs of overheating, with high derivative fund rates prompting some traders to shift from SOL to stablecoins for profit protection. Notably, a trader with just 1.5 SOL <a href="https://news.todayq.com/crypto-whales-ride-solanas-rally-turn-62-into-2m-with-silly-token/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">struck gold by investing</a> in Silly Dragon (SILLY), a Solana-based memecoin, turning the modest investment into approximately $2 million.
