Deep Dive
1. Purpose & Value Proposition
Ritual aims to solve a core challenge in crypto and AI: creating truly autonomous agents. Traditional smart contracts lack direct access to AI models and external data, requiring complex, unreliable oracle and keeper bot systems. Ritual’s network is designed so software agents can own keys, manage capital, and pay for their own AI inference and data—enabling them to act as independent economic participants (CoinMarketCap).
2. Technology & Architecture
The chain is built on EVM++, a backwards-compatible extension of the Ethereum Virtual Machine. It adds sixteen native precompiles—special operations built into the chain itself—that allow smart contracts to directly call AI models (like large language models), fetch live web data, and schedule future actions without external infrastructure. For private computations, it uses Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), secure hardware enclaves that keep data encrypted. The network uses Proof-of-Stake consensus and targets sub-350 millisecond block times for speed (TradingView).
3. Tokenomics & Utility
The RITUAL token is the network's utility and settlement asset. It is used to pay for gas fees, AI model inferences, HTTP requests for external data, and scheduled job execution. Executors who provide compute resources earn RITUAL, and validators are rewarded with it for securing the network. Its initial supply is 10 billion, with a portion of transaction fees burned via an EIP-1559 mechanism (TokenPost).
Conclusion
Ritual is fundamentally a specialized blockchain that integrates AI execution and economic autonomy directly into its core protocol. Will its native architecture prove to be the optimal foundation for scalable, self-sustaining AI agents?
