Binance's XRP reserves increased by approximately 280 million tokens in just 48 hours, reversing an earlier decline following the cryptocurrency exchange's $6.34 billion security breach on October 29.
According to <a href="https://cryptoquant.com/insights/quicktake/6aebfff6d730cb7df44c09e3-Binance-XRP-Reserves-Surge-280-Million-in-Two-Days-Following-634-Billion-Hack" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CryptoQuant analyst Amr Taha</a>, Binance holdings climbed from 2.35 billion XRP on November 3 to 2.63 billion on November 5, representing an 11.9% increase.
The rebound follows the theft of 233.46 million XRP from five Binance hot wallets, raising questions about whether the latest movements reflect reserve replenishment, customer activity or internal transfers.Binance XRP Reserves Climb 11.9% After Security Breach
CryptoQuant data show that large-transfer netflows shifted sharply following the attack.
On October 29, Binance recorded approximately 226 million XRP in net outflows from large transfers. By November 4, the same indicator had reversed to roughly 273 million XRP in net inflows.
The reversal comes as Binance continues rebuilding its balance sheet after hackers stole cryptocurrency across multiple blockchain networks.
In its <a href="https://www.binance.com/en-AU/blog/community/3229153443759566763" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">November 3 security update</a>, Binance confirmed that approximately $6.34 billion in digital assets had been affected. The exchange said it had replenished 98% of impacted token assets and frozen or intercepted approximately $2.85 billion.
XRP was among the assets for which Binance had already restored full reported reserve backing.
The latest figures follow our coverage of <a href="https://coinpaper.com/38184/binance-says-it-has-replaced-90-of-stolen-crypto-after-6-3-billion-hack" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Binance replenishing stolen cryptocurrency</a> and the subsequent <a href="https://coinpaper.com/38373/ripple-mints-110-57-m-in-rlusd-as-binance-restores-xrp-withdrawals-following-6-3-b-hack" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">restoration of XRP withdrawals</a>.
However, CryptoQuant has not independently established the source of the additional 280 million XRP. The increase should not be interpreted exclusively as customer deposits or newly purchased replacement assets.XRP Deposits Rise as Exchange Liquidity Signals Diverge
Transaction data show Binance's share of XRP deposit transactions increasing from 44.3% on October 27 to 56.2% on November 5.
Meanwhile, its reported withdrawal transaction share declined from 55.7% to 43.7%.
These percentages describe transaction counts rather than XRP amounts, meaning they cannot establish the net value of customer deposits.
Interestingly, another CryptoQuant contributor reported that Binance's XRP Scarcity Index climbed to approximately 2.1, its highest reading since 2022.
The indicator measures relative trading availability, making it different from total exchange reserves. Binance can therefore hold more XRP overall while immediately tradable liquidity remains comparatively constrained.
This distinction matters after the exchange experienced <a href="https://coinpaper.com/38224/binance-outflows-reach-4-7-billion-after-hack-as-3-75-billion-withdrawal-claim-spreads" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">approximately $4.72 billion in net withdrawals</a> following its reopening. What the Reserve Increase Means for XRP
The latest reserve growth does not automatically indicate bearish selling pressure.
Exchange balances can rise when customers deposit assets, but the same movement can result from internal wallet transfers or the replacement of missing reserves.
Investigators are also monitoring the stolen XRP itself. Coinpaper previously documented <a href="https://coinpaper.com/38209/binance-hack-wallet-moves-101-million-in-xrp-across-two-transactions-just-50-seconds-apart" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">two transfers totaling approximately $101 million</a>, demonstrating that stolen funds can continue circulating even after customer balances are restored.
Additional uncertainty comes from the distinction between reported reserve coverage and complete financial recovery.
As Coinpaper's earlier <a href="https://coinpaper.com/32502/binance-completes-proof-of-reserves-checks-for-10-major-tokens-following-6-3-billion-hack" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">proof-of-reserves analysis</a> explained, asset verification does not necessarily establish an exchange's entire financial position.
