XRP came under renewed selling pressure at the end of the week as investors kept a close eye on the outlook for cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence regulation after the Democratic Party secured control of both chambers of the US Congress.

Regulatory uncertainty weighs on XRP and crypto markets

Market participants are increasingly concerned that heightened regulatory scrutiny could affect the broader digital asset sector. This unease has dampened investor confidence, limiting recovery attempts not only in XRP but also in other leading cryptocurrencies.

Technical selling grew after XRP closed below its 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA), an indicator widely seen by traders as showing the direction of the long-term trend. This move signaled that bears have gained the upper hand and that a further decline appears increasingly likely unless buyers manage to reclaim the 200-day EMA.

Analysts have stated that similar weakness is evident in the wider cryptocurrency sector. Both Bitcoin and Ethereum have also struggled to recover from recent declines, repeatedly failing to overcome key technical resistance levels. This pattern has reinforced a bearish sentiment across the market, with many coins continuing to trade below major moving averages.

As a result, recovery attempts in XRP, as well as in the larger market, have remained subdued. Major cryptocurrencies are battling with resistance from descending price channels and face ongoing selling, especially as investor sentiment remains fragile in the shadow of broader regulatory and equity market concerns.

XRP price outlook: Key levels and technical signals

XRP traded below $1.20 on Friday and has failed to break past several important resistance zones. The token continues to hover below its 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day EMAs, located between $1.320 and $1.375. The inability to move above these averages has kept downside risks in focus.

Price action shows persistent rejection at the upper boundary of a descending channel, now around $1.257. Analysts noted that forces keeping XRP in a downward trend remain active, with every rebound meeting fresh selling orders.

XRP’s momentum indicators remain weak, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 35, well below the neutral threshold of 50. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) sits below its zero line, further confirming that sellers are maintaining pressure in the current market environment.

Immediate upside resistance stands at $1.257, followed by the 100-day EMA at $1.320 and the 50-day EMA at $1.326. A sustained break above these levels would suggest the early stages of a recovery, but analysts caution that such a move would need clear confirmation by retesting psychological resistance at $1.300 and, ultimately, the 200-day EMA at $1.375.

Above the current zone, bulls would still encounter strong resistance at $1.540 and $1.900, but market participants suggest meaningful upside remains distant without a notable improvement in both technical strength and market sentiment.

On the downside, immediate support is found at $1.160. A close below this level could accelerate the downturn, exposing XRP to further losses toward the $1.000 psychological mark if bearish momentum persists.

Unless the price can recover decisively above $1.320–$1.375, analysts expect short-term rebounds to remain limited and within a corrective downtrend, with sellers maintaining control over the short- and medium-term outlook.
