XRP's network logged nearly 8,000 new wallets in a single day on November 1, 2026, a spike that arrived just days after one of the largest exchange hacks in crypto history stripped roughly $6.4 billion from Binance hot wallets and sent the broader market into a state of fear.

On-chain analytics firm Santiment reported that 7,934 new XRP wallets were created on November 1, 2026, ranking it the sixth-highest single-day total for XRP network growth so far this year. The figure stands out partly because Sunday is historically one of the quietest days for crypto network activity.
What a New XRP Wallet Measures — and What It Does Not

A "new wallet" count tracks unique addresses activated on the XRP Ledger for the first time. It does not confirm the number of distinct people entering the ecosystem; a single user can open multiple wallets, and custody migrations, where a holder moves assets from an exchange to a self-custody address, also generate new addresses. The 7,934 figure is a network-activity signal, not a verified investor headcount. More on this in Kim Jong Un Memes Flood X After Binance’s $6.3B Hack.

Why the Reported Binance Hack May Have Put XRP Activity in Focus

The wallet surge followed the $6.4 billion Binance exploit that blockchain forensics firm Chainalysis says began at approximately 4:20 p.m. ET on October 29, 2026, when unauthorized transfers started leaving Binance hot wallets. Chainalysis attributed the attack to the North Korean cybercrime group TraderTraitor based on its on-chain assessment.

Freezes on the stolen funds began by 5:14 p.m. ET the same day, with approximately $2.8 billion immobilized by the time Chainalysis published its report. CNBC reported that Binance pledged to cover user losses and that roughly $3 billion had been frozen, though asset recovery at that scale typically requires legal process such as court orders or seizure warrants.

No fetched evidence establishes a direct causal link between the hack and the XRP wallet spike. The timing is correlation, and the research notes that new-address counts can reflect custody changes rather than net new participants. Still, the sequence, an exchange breach of historic scale followed days later by an unusually strong network-growth day on a self-custody-capable chain, fits a pattern analysts often associate with post-incident custody reassessment.

Self-Custody as a Response to Exchange Risk

When a major centralized exchange suffers a significant breach, a portion of the market typically moves assets off-platform into self-custodied wallets, according to reporting from CNBC. Bitcoin.com attributed a possible self-custody explanation for the XRP wallet activity to Santiment, though no wallet-level evidence was provided to confirm that framing. It remains an unconfirmed single-source interpretation.

XRP traded near $1.25 at the time of publication, with a market cap of approximately $78.95 billion and 24-hour trading volume near $1.3 billion. The broader market's Fear & Greed Index sat at 26, firmly in "Fear" territory, consistent with the post-hack sentiment across the industry.

The week following the breach brought continued uncertainty as industry observers tracked both the investigation into TraderTraitor's movements and the broader market fallout, including a temporary freeze on Aave markets tied to the incident.

What to Watch Next for XRP Network Activity

A single elevated day of wallet creation does not establish a durable adoption trend. The November 1 count needs context from subsequent days before any sustained growth narrative can be supported by data.

Follow-Up Indicators Worth Monitoring

Active addresses: whether the newly created wallets transact or sit dormant

Transaction counts: daily volume on the XRP Ledger beyond address creation

Exchange flows: net outflows from centralized exchanges holding XRP, which would suggest genuine self-custody migration

Continued wallet growth: whether the November 1 spike is a one-day anomaly or the start of a multi-day acceleration

Santiment recorded 7,934 new XRP wallets on November 1, 2026, the sixth-highest daily count of the year, despite Sundays typically being slow for network activity.

The spike followed Chainalysis's reported $6.4 billion Binance exploit attributed to TraderTraitor, but no evidence directly links the hack to the wallet increase.

Active address trends, transaction volume, and sustained wallet growth in the days ahead will determine whether November 1 was a one-day reaction or the start of a broader network expansion.
