Optimism is set to participate in the Ethereum Institutional Forum in London on November 12, with a focus on demonstrating the OP Stack’s contribution to scaling the Ethereum ecosystem for institutional finance. The forum’s agenda brings together representatives from major players including J.P. Morgan, BlackRock, DTCC, and the Ethereum Foundation, alongside Optimism’s co-founder and CTO Karl Floersch.

Institutional Forum Emphasizes ETH Scaling

The Ethereum Institutional Forum is an invitation-only event dedicated to exploring the technology roadmap for ETH and its adoption in institutional environments. Participants will discuss tokenization, settlement, custody solutions, collateral requirements, and ETH’s post-quantum security preparedness.

Optimism’s involvement places particular attention on how Layer 2 infrastructure underpins lower-cost blockchain transactions, providing scalable alternatives to the main Ethereum network. The gathering aims to facilitate dialogue between financial institutions and the technology providers driving on-chain innovation and deployment.

Optimism’s ongoing collaboration with institutions highlights how ETH’s institutional growth depends on robust infrastructure beyond its mainnet, with scalability and efficiency as central topics for large-scale adoption.

The forum’s lineup of speakers and agenda signals rising institutional demand for solutions supporting tokenization and digital asset settlement via Ethereum-compatible technology stacks.

OP Stack Dominates Layer 2 and Layer 3 Transaction Volume

According to Optimism’s latest figures, there are 54 mainnet chains currently operating on the OP Stack framework as of October 2026. Networks such as Ink, Unichain, Soneium, and World leverage this shared architecture, enabling organizations to establish purpose-built, Ethereum-compatible blockchains instead of relying exclusively on the Ethereum mainnet.

From January to September 2026, OP Stack-based chains processed on average 66.8% of monthly transactions across Ethereum Layer 2 and Layer 3 environments. The ecosystem recorded a monthly average of 908 million total transactions during this period, comprising both successful and reverted transactions. While these figures underline the significant share of scaling activity facilitated by OP Stack chains, transaction volume does not directly equate to total user adoption or broader economic impact.

With institutional players increasingly exploring on-chain deployments, keeping track of infrastructure evolution such as the OP Stack becomes critical. For those monitoring the event and market shifts, CryptoAppsy’s real-time charts and customizable coin-specific news alerts offer an efficient way to stay informed on technical developments and trends shaping the Ethereum ecosystem as new deployments emerge.

Stablecoin, DeFi, and Institutional Use Cases Under Discussion

Data compiled by Optimism and L2BEAT shows that OP Stack chains secured $22.2 billion in September 2026. The ecosystem registered $7.5 billion in DeFi protocol assets and $8.2 billion in active stablecoin supply for the same period. These measures broaden perspective beyond transaction throughput, reflecting the deployment of capital in applications and stablecoin services using Layer 2 infrastructure.

Total stablecoin transfer volume across OP Stack networks reached $35 trillion in gross transfers between January and September, with this metric excluding mints and burns. However, this figure includes repeated movements of assets and does not directly indicate unique economic activity. The growing scale of stablecoin settlements and tokenized assets highlights their importance in the discussion about institutional adoption of Ethereum and related scaling technology.

The agenda and the roster of speakers at the Ethereum Institutional Forum point to increasing institutional attention toward tokenized financial products, digital custody, and settlement infrastructure supported by platforms like OP Stack. While the event’s participation does not specify a new institutional deployment, it situates Optimism and similar providers at the center of the conversation about financial use cases on Ethereum.

The sector is watching to see whether the London forum produces firm announcements regarding new institutional partnerships, product launches, or blockchain network deployments utilizing Layer 2 solutions.

The OP Stack ecosystem’s high transaction share and significant value secured mark substantial progress in the evolution of scalable, institution-targeted Ethereum infrastructure, according to available data and institutional participation.
