The XRP Ledger has ten amendments in progress, but its proposed native lending system remains well below the validator support required for activation, highlighting the gap between the network's expanding development roadmap and features available on mainnet.
An October 29 <a href="https://xrpldashboard.com/amendments/2026-10-29" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">XRPL amendment dashboard</a> snapshot showed 18 validators supporting the LendingProtocol amendment out of 34 validators heard in the latest voting round. The proposal needed 28 votes, leaving it ten short.
A separate signed network snapshot recorded 19 votes out of 35 validators, where 29 would be required. Both measurements indicate that native lending has not secured a supermajority.
Of the ten amendments tracked as in progress, only the technical cleanup amendment fixCleanup3_4_0 had entered a two-week activation countdown.XRP Ledger Lending Still Needs 10 Validator Votes
XRPL's proposed lending architecture would allow institutions to originate fixed-term loans using pooled assets directly on the ledger.
The system depends on two major components: SingleAssetVault, which pools XRP and eligible issued tokens, and LendingProtocol, which handles loan origination and repayment.
A third amendment, LendingProtocolV1_1, would introduce closed-ended vaults and updated interest-accounting rules.
However, none has achieved the required approval.
The October 29 validator roll call showed SingleAssetVault receiving 20 votes, while LendingProtocol and LendingProtocolV1_1 each had 18.
The lack of progress follows earlier <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37652/xrp-ledger-lending-protocol-remains-10-votes-short-as-october-23-bug-fix-nears-activation" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">lending vote reports</a>, which showed the same ten-vote shortfall on October 20.
The proposed system could eventually support financial strategies involving pooled XRP and tokenized assets.
Ripple's partnership with <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37771/ripple-and-arf-target-10-b-payment-market-with-rlusd-as-xrp-ledger-lending-awaits-validator-approval" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Arf</a> provides one potential application, linking RLUSD settlement financing to infrastructure that could later support native lending.
However, the protocol relies on off-chain credit underwriting, meaning blockchain-based settlement would not eliminate borrower default risk.Privacy and Sponsored Wallets Also Await Validator Approval
Other proposed institutional features face similar obstacles.
ConfidentialTransfer had 19 votes in the latest roll call, nine short of the required threshold. The amendment would introduce privacy protections for supported Multi-Purpose Token transfers while maintaining verification capabilities for authorized parties.
The feature would not make ordinary XRP transfers private.
An earlier <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37327/xrp-news-new-lending-and-privacy-features-await-validator-approval-on-xrp-ledger" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">privacy upgrade report</a> recorded 22 supporting validators on October 15, showing that approval levels can fluctuate.
Meanwhile, the Sponsor amendment received nine votes, leaving it 19 short.
That proposal would allow businesses to cover transaction fees and account reserves for users, potentially supporting the <a href="https://coinpaper.com/38018/xrp-ledger-could-let-users-open-wallets-with-zero-xrp-under-new-developer-proposal" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">zero-XRP wallet</a> functionality currently under development.
The distinction matters for RLUSD payments because users could eventually receive stablecoins without personally funding the XRP reserve required to activate an account.November 4 Upgrade Advances as Lending Remains Unapproved
Unlike the proposed financial features, fixCleanup3_4_0 has maintained sufficient support to continue its activation countdown.
The amendment addresses technical issues involving vault calculations, token permissions, escrow processing and other network functions.
Its expected activation was previously <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37769/xrp-ledger-upgrade-delayed-to-november-4-after-validator-support-drops-below-80" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">delayed</a> after validator support briefly fell below the required threshold, restarting the mandatory two-week waiting period.
The upgrade is now targeting November 4, provided its supermajority continues uninterrupted.
Under XRPL rules, amendments must maintain more than 80% support for two consecutive weeks before activation.
The voting process demonstrates why introducing code into a software release does not guarantee its availability on the live network.
As Coinpaper previously explained in its <a href="https://coinpaper.com/36845/xrp-ledger-is-getting-native-lending-can-it-turn-idle-assets-into-credit" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">lending analysis</a>, XRPL's proposed credit infrastructure could eventually create additional uses for XRP and tokenized assets.
