Flare

The XRP Ledger Foundation announced that it has included Flare Networks on its list of recommended validators, enhancing Flare’s participation in the consensus and governance of the XRP Ledger.

Foundation welcomes Flare Networks

On October 28, the XRP Ledger Foundation shared the update via X, stating they had added Flare Networks to their selected validator list based on Flare’s commitment to the wider XRP Ledger community.

A Foundation spokesperson highlighted Flare’s alignment with the core values of the network and its proactive engagement in governance procedures across the XRP ecosystem.

“We welcome @FlareNetworks to the recommended XRP Ledger validator list,” the Foundation stated, emphasizing Flare’s dedication to the ongoing development of the network.

Flare Networks responded by thanking the Foundation and individuals who thoroughly assessed its application, expressing appreciation for being recognized as a trusted participant.

Flare and the XRP ecosystem

Flare Networks is a blockchain platform focused on providing smart contract functionality for various digital assets. In September 2025, Flare launched FXRP on its mainnet, enabling XRP holders to access decentralized finance features by using Flare’s FAssets framework to represent XRP on the network.

Its FAssets system enables users to utilize non-native tokens in decentralized applications.

Validator roles and governance structure

Validators are pivotal actors responsible for maintaining the reliability and security of the XRP Ledger, ensuring the integrity of transactions and the overall consensus mechanism.

Unlike Bitcoin, which uses proof-of-work, the XRP Ledger operates on a unique consensus protocol where validators communicate to agree on the legitimacy and chronological order of transactions. This prevents double-spending and sustains a uniform transaction history among participants.

Influence among validators varies, as the network employs a Unique Node List (UNL). Each XRPL server admin can choose which validators to trust, but many opt to use the recommended validator list compiled by the XRP Ledger Foundation or Ripple for enhanced reliability.

Significance of the recommended validator list

Inclusion on the Foundation’s recommended validator list signals that a validator is regarded as both reliable and sufficiently independent. This recognition can lead to increased trust from XRPL server administrators and the broader community.

The XRP Ledger Foundation’s curated validator list features a diverse group of participants, including digital asset companies, infrastructure providers, and academic institutions.

Well-known organizations such as Ripple, XRPL Labs, Bithomp, GateHub, Peersyst Technology, and XRPL Commons are among the recommended validators. This list also includes several universities, like the University of Kansas, Australian National University, and University of Nicosia, reflecting a wide spectrum of entities involved in network governance.
