The XRP Ledger Foundation has officially added Flare Networks to its list of recommended validators, a significant move that strengthens Flare’s integration into the XRP Ledger ecosystem’s consensus and governance processes.

Foundation Highlights Flare’s Alignment with XRP Ledger

Announcing the decision on October 28, the Foundation emphasized Flare’s commitment to the XRP Ledger ecosystem, noting its alignment with the network’s core values and active participation in governance activities.

The Foundation expressed its satisfaction in welcoming Flare Networks to the recommended XRP Ledger validator list, acknowledging the positive contribution this adds to the ecosystem.

In response, Flare expressed its gratitude to the Foundation and all parties that transparently evaluated its application. Flare is recognized for its focus on expanding the use of data and assets across blockchains.

Introduction of FXRP and Its Ecosystem Role

In September 2025, Flare launched FXRP on its mainnet. This functionality allows XRP holders to access decentralized finance applications via the Flare infrastructure, aiming to broaden XRP’s range of applications.

FXRP denotes the representation of XRP within the Flare network in this system.

Flare extended gratitude to the Foundation for its decision, as well as to participants who openly reviewed its application.

The Role of Validators and Their Importance

Unlike Bitcoin, which employs a proof-of-work mining model, XRP Ledger operates with a unique consensus mechanism to validate and sequence transactions. Validators independently validate transactions to achieve collective consensus on the ledger’s new version.

This consensus process helps prevent double-spending and ensures that network participants maintain a consistent transaction record. However, not all validators hold equal weight in this consensus process.

Significance of the Recommended List

XRPL servers utilize a Unique Node List featuring trusted validators. While server administrators can create their lists, many participants rely on validator lists recommended by the XRP Ledger Foundation and Ripple.

Being included in the recommended list signifies that a validator is viewed as trustworthy and independent. Current recommended organizations include Ripple, XRPL Labs, Bithomp, GateHub, Peersyst Technology, XRPL Commons, alongside academic institutions such as the University of Kansas, the Australian National University, and the University of Nicosia.
