The six-month, US dollar-denominated floating-rate notes were issued under Mirae Asset Securities' US$3 billion Guaranteed Structured Note Programme, with Singapore-based Marketnode acting as the authorized distributor. The Solana Foundation supported the transaction, announced on October 28. The size of the individual issuance was not disclosed. The US$3 billion figure represents the programme's overall ceiling, not the amount raised through this transaction. The notes were privately placed with eligible professional investors under Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Ordinance and have not been authorized or registered by the Securities and Futures Commission.

How Does Mirae Asset's Tokenized Note Offering Work?
Mirae Asset Securities (HK) Limited handled token issuance, payments and lifecycle management through its own digital infrastructure. The arrangement allows the firm to distribute an existing type of structured financial product through blockchain-based channels rather than relying exclusively on conventional securities distribution infrastructure. Marketnode, a Singapore-regulated digital market infrastructure operator, acted as the authorized distributor. Its role connects the issuer's structured-note capabilities with institutional investors, while the Solana blockchain provides the network on which the notes are tokenized. The announcement did not disclose the issue's total value, coupon rate, reference benchmark, token standard or arrangements for secondary-market trading. It also did not establish whether investors can freely transfer the tokens between wallets or whether transfers are restricted to approved participants. Those details matter because tokenization does not automatically make a security freely transferable or liquid. A blockchain-based note can remain subject to the same investor eligibility, contractual and regulatory restrictions as a conventional privately placed security. The transaction follows other institutional experiments with blockchain-based securities distribution. HSBC's blockchain-based structured-product issuance in Hong Kong also used Marketnode infrastructure, illustrating how established financial institutions are testing digital channels for products that already exist in traditional capital markets.

The issuance demonstrates a new distribution channel for institutional debt, but undisclosed deal size, coupon terms and transfer arrangements limit conclusions about liquidity, investor demand and commercial scale.

Why Is Mirae Asset Expanding Its Digital Asset Business?
The transaction fits a broader strategy by Mirae Asset Financial Group to connect its established financial businesses with digital assets. The group operates across securities, investment banking, asset management and insurance, giving it existing distribution capabilities that could support tokenized financial products. Its digital-asset expansion has also included the acquisition of a controlling stake in South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Korbit, subsequently rebranded as Digital X. FinanceFeeds previously examined Mirae Asset's plans to build a larger digital-asset business around Digital X, including its ambitions to connect conventional financial products with digital-asset infrastructure. The Hong Kong note issuance addresses a different part of that strategy. Rather than focusing on cryptocurrency trading, it applies tokenization to a structured funding instrument issued by a traditional securities firm. Mirae said the transaction could provide a model for extending its structured-note programme to a broader range of products. That is a potential expansion path, not a commitment to issue additional products on a specified timetable.

What Does the Solana Transaction Mean for Institutional Tokenization?
Solana is increasingly being used to support products linked to traditional financial assets, including tokenized equities and investment funds. Securitize's tokenized US-stock offering on Solana provides another example of conventional securities being represented on public blockchain infrastructure for eligible investors. Mirae's transaction differs from tokenized fund shares or equity tokens because it involves funding notes issued by a securities firm. Investors hold exposure through a debt instrument, with the issuer responsible for the contractual payment and redemption obligations. The token represents the security in a digital format; it does not eliminate the issuer's credit risk or guarantee a liquid market. For institutional investors, the potential benefits depend on how well tokenization integrates issuance, payment processing, recordkeeping and redemption. Public blockchain infrastructure may offer operational advantages, but those advantages must be assessed alongside custody arrangements, transfer restrictions, legal enforceability and the availability of counterparties.

The commercial test is whether tokenized notes attract repeat institutional demand and improve distribution or servicing costs. A single issuance establishes a use case, not yet a proven market at scale.

What Should Investors Watch Next?
The next indicators will be the size and terms of any subsequent issuance, whether Mirae extends tokenization to additional structured products, and whether the firm discloses more about settlement, custody and secondary-market access. The transaction adds another traditional financial institution to the group using public blockchain infrastructure for securities distribution. Its longer-term importance will depend on whether the model develops beyond a single private placement into a repeatable channel for institutional funding and investment products.
