Pseudonymous social media figure and meme creator Buzz, known as BuzzlamicJihad, has parted ways with the blockchain project Aptos following the conclusion of his one-year advisory contract. Buzz described the split as “mutual” and revealed that he has sold his holdings of APT, Aptos’ native token.

Buzz Leaves Aptos, Shifts Focus to Meta

Buzz initially gained prominence in the crypto space with his grassroots meme campaigns aimed at building investor excitement and momentum for Aptos, a layer 1 blockchain. His community-oriented approach and meme-driven strategy notably contributed to a surge in enthusiasm for APT, popularizing phrases such as “Aptos lookin’ good here” and “sidelined?”

After months of unofficial community engagement, Buzz officially joined Aptos in October 2025 as an advisor. He aimed to improve the project’s image and position it as a premium stablecoin network. However, by the end of the contract, Buzz decided against renewal, citing a lack of further opportunities and unfinished plans. “I didn’t see it going anywhere else, and some of the plans I had didn’t work out as intended,” said Buzz. “So, I didn’t bother extending it and they didn’t seem willing to either anyways, so it’s mutual.”

The end of Buzz’s involvement with Aptos coincides with a recent decline in the project’s token performance. Since the start of the month, APT’s market capitalization has dropped 10.7% to $607 million, according to industry data. Buzz confirmed he has divested his APT holdings.

Memes, Meta, and Market Moves

With his Aptos chapter closed, Buzz is redirecting his efforts to Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook. He has launched a new meme-centric campaign aimed at highlighting what he believes are overlooked fundamentals of the tech giant and bringing renewed attention from retail investors. Buzz criticized the recent creation of Meta’s Class C shares, which come without voting rights, suggesting retail participants are being sidelined.

Although Meta’s stock value declined 1.2% on the day Buzz launched his social campaign, the company commands a market capitalization of $1.59 trillion. For Buzz, who acknowledges the company is “not failing,” moving Meta’s price through grassroots online mobilization presents a challenge over 2,600 times greater than his Aptos initiative. He has shifted his communications to WhatsApp, Meta’s own messaging service, as part of his campaign strategy.

Meta Platforms is the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, and is one of the largest technology companies by market capitalization globally.

Comparisons to Roaring Kitty and the Meme Stock Phenomenon

Buzz’s strategy has drawn comparisons to Roaring Kitty, the social media influencer famous for driving retail enthusiasm around GameStop’s GME stock. Roaring Kitty, whose real name is Keith Gill, is a financial analyst who used social media platforms such as Reddit’s WallStreetBets to rally a wave of investors, leading to GME’s rapid rise and accompanying volatility. The GameStop saga eventually inspired the 2023 feature film “Dumb Money.”

When Roaring Kitty briefly returned to social media in 2024, GameStop’s price doubled, and a Solana-based meme coin referencing GME surged by 1,900%. Despite the scale and visibility of such campaigns, GameStop’s market cap sits at $11.85 billion—making Meta roughly 134 times larger by comparison. Buzz’s challenge to influence Meta’s stock price through memes is therefore far greater in scope.

In contrast to his previous projects, Buzz emphasized that Meta’s fundamentals are strong and that his campaign does not seek a “hostile takeover.” He also sees potential in Meta’s AI product, Muse, benefiting from stablecoin float economics, and expressed openness to joining any future crypto efforts at Meta should the opportunity arise.

Buzz’s attempts to shape sentiment around Meta have begun with slogans reminiscent of his Aptos days, including variations of “META looking good here.” While the impact of this new guerrilla marketing effort remains to be seen, the campaign marks a significant shift in focus for the prolific memer and social media strategist.

Buzz believes Meta’s recent developments, such as the Class C share structure and advances in AI, offer untapped opportunities for retail investors and could see renewed interest if further crypto integrations emerge.
