The altcoin market is reportedly revisiting a zone associated with the 2017 and 2021 rallies.

HYPE, SUI, AVAX, LTC, and ETH represent different segments of the crypto market.

Volume, Bitcoin dominance, and resistance levels could help establish whether another altseason is developing.

The altcoin market is approaching a potentially important technical test as traders monitor a historical support region that preceded major rallies in 2017 and 2021. With the same area reportedly returning to focus in 2026, attention has shifted toward whether years of market compression could eventually give way to another broad altcoin rally.

The current market thesis centers on a long-term technical pattern that has developed over approximately nine years. The outlook is based primarily on the 2017 cycle and the 2021 cycle. Altcoins enjoyed high volatility both times, but the market conditions, investor trading habits and trading platforms were different. Traders are closely observing in 2026 whether the market can keep its historical levels of support and build sufficient strength to approach the long-term resistance level.

The volume, market cap, Bitcoin dominance, and relative strength of the top altcoins may be indicators that provide a way to identify if capital is shifting away from Bitcoin. But a breakdown below support can put a greater emphasis on the downside and prolong the consolidation period. Given this backdrop, traders can watch five parts of the cryptocurrency market that could see a rally in the future: Hyperliquid, Sui, Avalanche, Litecoin, and Ethereum.

Hyperliquid (HYPE) and Decentralized Trading

Hyperliquid is a blockchain ecosystem for on-chain trading, with perpetual futures markets. Given its relevance in decentralized derivatives, HYPE is important to conversations around trading volumes and usage of blockchain financial services. A broader recovery of the altcoins would allow traders to keep track of transactions on the platform, demand for the tokens, and overall liquidity in the market.

Sui (SUI) and Layer-1 Competition

Sui is a Layer-1 blockchain for decentralized apps and digital assets. It might rely on the use of its network, development of its ecosystem, and investors' appetite. With a more favorable market, there could be renewed interest, but the competition between blockchain networks will be a factor.

Avalanche (AVAX) and Blockchain Adoption

Avalanche is an infrastructure for decentralized applications and financial services based on blockchain. If investors start to consider layer-1 networks for revival, AVAX may gain the interest of investors. The assessment of its potential performance also needs to take into account network activity, the development of applications, as well as other market conditions.

Litecoin (LTC) and Established Market Presence

Litecoin is a well-known cryptocurrency, which is mostly known for facilitating peer-to-peer transactions. It has an older trading history than newer blockchain ecosystems, which means that its behavior in the market can be compared to that of the other cycles. Its performance, however, would still be subject to demand, liquidity, and general cryptocurrency sentiment.

Ethereum (ETH) and Altcoin Market Direction

Ethereum remains a major blockchain platform supporting decentralized finance, stablecoins, and smart contracts. Sentiment towards the entire altcoin space can be affected by its price action. As traders work with ETH against Bitcoin, in addition to network activity and volume, they can gauge if the momentum is beginning to extend past the top assets.

What Could Confirm the Next Altseason?

A historical support base has come back and sparked renewed interest in the potential of a significant altcoin breakout in 2026. However, confirmation would come with them if the market passes through resistance, which would be indicated by an increase in trading volume, and if strength is observed in several cryptocurrencies. So the market scenario is going to be the proposed altseason until the signals appear.
