Chainlink News today: Chainlink says CustodySync, a tool meant to let qualified custodians offer institutional clients DeFi lending access while assets stay in custody, is going live with Anchorage Digital Bank as its launch partner. Its announcement describes the system's intended workflow, but does not identify a live lending market, borrower or completed loan.

What Is Chainlink CustodySync and Who Is Live?

Many institutions must hold digital assets with qualified custodians, and moving them out conflicts with institutional policies.
Anchorage, home of the first federally chartered digital asset bank in the U.S., is named the first qualified custodian to adopt CustodySync. Its Atlas Collateral Management product acts as the appointed collateral agent.

How Does CustodySync Keep Systems in Sync?

Chainlink describes five stages:

Custody: collateral stays with the custodian. Its balance is published onchain through Proof of Reserve, according to the design

Receipt token: a transfer-restricted token is used within the lending integration. It carries no claim on the underlying assets outside it

Borrowing: assets move to the borrower in one transaction, and the custodian's records update

Pricing: one shared price source feeds both sides

Liquidation:if a loan breaches its liquidation threshold, the appointed collateral agent initiates a sale through its own process. CustodySync records the committed sale proceeds onchain, and the final debt repayment and settlement execute in a single atomic transaction

Chainlink says the lending market would use Data Feeds onchain, while Data Streams deliver the same price values to the custodian's offchain systems. The intended benefit is to reduce discrepancies caused by different price inputs or delays between systems. That is the design described in the announcement; it is not independent proof that pricing mismatches or liquidation errors have been eliminated in live use.
This Chainlink News review treats these steps as the described design. Assets staying in custody does not remove smart-contract, oracle, counterparty, operational or liquidation-execution risk.

Chainlink's announcement names Anchorage Digital Bank as CustodySync's launch partner but does not identify a live lending market, borrower or completed loan. Aave Labs separately published a September 14 proposal for an Aave V4 isolated market using custodied collateral, with Anchorage and a Chainlink-designed CustodySync integration. Aave's October development update described the work as a proposal progressing toward launch, not as a live market. The distinction is important: a named proposal shows that an integration is being considered, not that borrowing is available today.
Chainlink's disclaimer says features may vary by custodian, and not all may be available at Anchorage.

The Bottom Line

This Chainlink News review finds an announced CustodySync design with Anchorage Digital Bank as the launch partner. Chainlink describes how custody balances, restricted receipt tokens, price data and liquidation settlement are intended to work together, while Aave Labs has separately proposed an Aave V4 integration. The reviewed sources do not establish a live lending market or completed CustodySync-backed loans. Until a protocol confirms deployment and publishes operational details, readers should distinguish the announced framework from demonstrated adoption.
