Dogecoin current supply stood at about 156.46 billion DOGE on 25 October 2026, according to a live data tracker. The coin has no fixed maximum supply, so new DOGE keep entering circulation through mining.
Each block pays 10,000 new coins, and a block arrives about once a minute. That steady rhythm is the core of<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/dogecoin-tokenomics-supply-mining-utility" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Dogecoin tokenomics explained</a> in plain terms, because mining is the only source of new coins.
That adds about 14.4 million coins a day and close to 5.26 billion a year, which is growth near 3.4% on today's supply. The rate dips every year because the reward never changes. The sections below show whether that many coins drag the price down.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-what-is-dogecoin-and-how-does-its-coin-supply-work-span-span">What Is Dogecoin and How Does Its Coin Supply Work?</h2>
<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/what-is-dogecoin-meaning-explained" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Dogecoin is a digital currency</a> that runs on its own blockchain, a public record of every transaction. It launched on 6 December 2013. Software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer built it as a light-hearted joke about the crypto craze.&nbsp;
The name and the face of the coin come from the "Doge" meme, a Shiba Inu dog, and the<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/dogecoin-logo-and-shiba-inu-meme-story-explained" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">story behind the Dogecoin logo</a> explains how that photo became the symbol.&nbsp;The joke grew into a working network. Its code started as a copy of Litecoin's, which came from Bitcoin's, with a few changes.&nbsp;
Dogecoin uses proof of work, where miners run computers to confirm transactions, and a new block arrives about every minute. People mostly use DOGE for tipping and small payments.
The supply works in a simple way. Every coin comes from mining, and the project had no public sale and no venture capital round.&nbsp;Miners earn new coins each time they add a block, and no maximum supply stops that process. That setup is the reason the coin count keeps rising.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-what-is-the-current-circulating-supply-of-dogecoin-span-span">What Is the Current Circulating Supply of Dogecoin?</h2>
The Dogecoin current supply is about 156.46 billion DOGE, per a live tracker, and it rises with every block.&nbsp;Terms get mixed up here. On-chain supply is every coin ever mined. Circulating supply is what a data provider reports.&nbsp;
Coins lost with old keys stay on the chain, and no public data measures them well, so DOGE circulating supply figures differ slightly between trackers.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-does-dogecoin-have-a-maximum-supply-limit-span-span">Does Dogecoin Have a Maximum Supply Limit?</h2>
No. Dogecoin has no hard cap, and issuance has no end date. The<a href="https://dogecoin.com/dogepedia/faq/putting-a-cap-on-dogecoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">official supply-cap FAQ</a> notes that issuance per block, per day, and per year is limited, so the total is endless only if time never ends. The same page says a cap would cut miner pay and weaken security.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-how-does-dogecoin-mining-add-new-coins-to-supply-span-span">How Does Dogecoin Mining Add New Coins to Supply?</h2>
Dogecoin uses <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/dogecoin-proof-of-work-explained-for-beginners" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">proof of work</a> with the Scrypt algorithm. Miners run powerful computers to confirm transactions and bundle them into blocks, and the one who finds a block earns new coins.
Since 2014, merged mining lets miners secure Dogecoin and Scrypt coins like Litecoin with the same work. Most join pools and use ASIC machines, as the<a href="https://dogecoin.com/dogepedia/how-tos/mining-dogecoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">official mining guide</a> explains. These DOGE mining rewards are the only source of new coins.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-how-many-new-doge-coins-are-created-each-year-span-span">How Many New DOGE Coins Are Created Each Year?</h2>
The Dogecoin Core FAQ says every block from number 600,000 onward pays a permanent 10,000 DOGE. Blocks target one minute.

That puts Dogecoin annual issuance near 5.26 billion coins if blocks run on time. Real timing varies, so the total moves a little. Dogecoin current supply climbs along a line that's easy to predict.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-why-does-dogecoin-continue-to-increase-its-supply-span-span">Why Does Dogecoin Continue to Increase Its Supply?</h2>
Miners get paid in new coins for securing the network. The project's FAQ says the fixed 10,000 DOGE reward keeps miners working and covers coins lost in forgotten wallets. About 100 billion coins existed by early 2015, and the reward carried on.
Supporters say steady issuance keeps coins cheap, which suits<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/dogecoin-payment-cryptocurrency-uses-challenges" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">using DOGE for daily payments</a>. Critics say it waters down every holder's share over time.

Bitcoin's reward halves about every four years, and its issuance is expected to end around 2140, per the project's FAQ. Dogecoin keeps a flat reward, so only its percentage growth shrinks.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-what-is-the-difference-between-circulating-and-total-doge-supply-span-span">What Is the Difference Between Circulating and Total DOGE Supply?</h2>
Circulating and total supply are two ways to count the same coins. Each data provider uses its own rules, so numbers differ.

 <table>
 <colgroup>
 <col width="169">
 <col width="227">
 <col width="206">

 <tbody>
 <tr>
 <td>Point</td>

 <tr>

 </tr>
 <tr>
 <td>Main cause of differences</td>
 <td>Each provider's counting rules</td>
 <td>Each provider's burn rules</td>
 </tr>
 </tbody>
 </table>
</div>
For DOGE the gap is about 7 million coins, under 0.01%. No vesting or unlock schedule holds coins back, and the network has no official burn feature. So the Dogecoin current supply and total supply nearly match.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-how-does-dogecoin-inflation-affect-its-growing-supply-span-span">How Does Dogecoin Inflation Affect Its Growing Supply?</h2>
Inflation here means how fast the coin count grows each year. Divide about 5.26 billion new coins by 156.46 billion existing ones, and the answer is roughly 3.4%. That's math on the target block pace, not a forecast.
The Dogecoin inflation rate falls slowly because the reward is flat while the total grows. Next year it would sit near 3.25% if nothing changes.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-can-dogecoin-mining-rewards-change-over-time-span-span">Can Dogecoin Mining Rewards Change Over Time?</h2>
The block reward sits in the software rules, so changing it takes a protocol update. The update only works if enough miners, node operators, and developers adopt it. Not everyone has to agree, but support must be broad.
A loose group of volunteers maintains the code, as this explainer on<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/dogecoin-core-developers-who-maintains-doge-network" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">who maintains the Dogecoin network</a> shows. No change to the 10,000 DOGE reward has been confirmed.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-how-can-you-check-the-latest-dogecoin-supply-data-span-span">How Can You Check the Latest Dogecoin Supply Data?</h2>
A live supply tracker shows circulating and total figures with a date. A blockchain explorer adds block counts, and the open-source code shows the reward rules.
A quick check also works. Count new blocks since a known reading and multiply by 10,000. The result should match the change in Dogecoin current supply. A big gap means the data source needs a second look.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-what-does-the-growing-doge-supply-mean-for-investors-span-span">What Does the Growing DOGE Supply Mean for Investors?</h2>
Market cap equals price times circulating supply. In a supply-only example, the same market cap spread over more coins means a lower price per coin. That's not a forecast, and any<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/price-prediction/dogecoin-price-prediction-2026-2030-doge-2-dollar-outlook" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">long-term DOGE price outlook</a> also has to weigh demand, selling pressure, liquidity, and the wider crypto market.
Demand often follows attention, and the reasons<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/dogecoin-popularity-why-doge-remains-relevant" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">why Dogecoin stays popular</a> show how a community can keep a coin relevant for years. Still, popularity doesn't change issuance. New coins arrive at a fixed pace, whatever the buzz.
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-conclusion-what-to-know-about-dogecoin-current-supply-span-span">Conclusion: What to Know About Dogecoin Current Supply</h3>
Dogecoin current supply sits near 156.46 billion DOGE. Mining adds about 5.26 billion coins a year, and nothing caps it. The pace stays fixed, so the growth rate slowly drops from about 3.4%.
Supply can be calculated. Demand can't, and it moves prices far more than new coins do. The<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/dogecoin-price-prediction-doge-channel-support-0-0785" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">current Dogecoin price prediction</a> is only an estimate, so live supply figures from more than one source make a safer base for any decision.
