As of October 24, 2026, Stellar news today is a developer warning rather than a price move, and it stands out in <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-news-today-october-23-bitcoin-81k-eth-dacity-coin-price" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">crypto news today</a>.&nbsp;
BuildOnStellar covered this news in its<a href="https://x.com/BuildOnStellar/status/2113700231028322569" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">tweet on X</a>, saying older SDKs may fail to decode Protocol 30 ledgers and that the bump is not optional.<img alt="Stellar Official tweet" src="https://d3iuzwoiyg9qa8.cloudfront.net/webadmin/storage/public/commonEditerImage/ZtGivQ1zABEeuTTk77F1JasWAq05xiOPLJT535dx.png" width="300" height="496" title="Stellar Official tweet">

<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-will-old-stellar-sdk-break-after-protocol-30-span-span">Will Old Stellar SDK Break After Protocol 30?</h2>
Yes, it can, and Stellar news today comes with a deadline for builders. The<a href="https://stellar.org/blog/developers/bell-protocol-30-upgrade-guide" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">upgrade guide</a> calls the Stellar SDK upgrade before Protocol 30 mandatory, because the ledger header format changes and an older SDK may fail to decode the new ledgers.&nbsp;
Indexers, explorers and analytics tools that read raw data must also refresh their XDR definitions.
Released versions include:
<ul>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Stellar JS SDK v17.3.0</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Go SDK v0.8.0</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Rust SDK (Soroban) 30.0.0-rc.1, with a stable release to follow</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Horizon, RPC and Galexie v30.0.0</li>
</ul>
Community SDKs, such as Java, Python and PHP, have tracking issues open for their own releases.

This Protocol 30 rollout timeline starts with the Stellar testnet vote November 3, followed by the Stellar mainnet vote November 23.&nbsp;
Each validator vote requires Core v30.0.0 on the node, and the guide notes that dates may change.
Developers have a short window: testnet integrations should move first, while mainnet integrations have more time.&nbsp;
Wallets, exchanges and ramps should also review how they validate and display addresses.

This Stellar network upgrade carries three changes, all additive at the transaction level.

Existing contracts keep working. The new features are opt-in once teams rebuild against the updated Soroban toolkit, so no sudden break is expected for deployed code.

Analysts following <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-news-english" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">crypto news</a> may read this release as readiness work before a market story.&nbsp;
The guide frames the SDK bump as step one, and application teams still need to accept the new W address type.
Stellar news today will likely turn on the November 3 <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-blogs-details/testnet-airdrops-watchlist-top-5-early-crypto-projects-to-watch" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">testnet result</a> and the November 23 mainnet outcome. Price impact, if any, stays uncertain.
