Bitcoin is consolidating around $81.6K after another rejection below the $86K-$90K region. This has extended a sequence of lower highs since late September. The asset is now testing a support confluence that could decide whether the broader ascending structure remains intact or a deeper pullback toward the September base unfolds.
Meanwhile, the Spot Average Order Size metric shows that large orders continue to dominate spot activity, with little sign of the retail-driven participation that has historically accompanied market tops.
<h2 id="bitcoin-price-analysis-the-daily-chart">Bitcoin Price Analysis: The Daily Chart</h2>
Bitcoin continues to trade within a broad ascending channel that has defined the recovery from the June lows near $58K. The August rally carried the price toward the upper boundary, but repeated rejections at $86K–$87K, where the boundary meets the base of the $86K–$90K supply zone, have since pushed BTC back toward the channel’s midpoint around $80K.
On the upside, buyers would first need to reclaim the $86K region to challenge the broader supply zone, which marks the area where the sharp February sell-off began. Conversely, a decisive daily close below the channel midline would bring the $75K–$78K order block into focus, as it formed the base of the September rally. Below that, the lower channel boundary near $72K remains the final line of the bullish structure.
The daily RSI currently sits at approximately 47, slightly below the neutral 50 level. The reading reflects fading momentum since the late-September peak, but it remains far from oversold territory. A recovery above 50 would suggest that buyers are regaining control, while a further decline toward 40 would leave the midline support vulnerable.

<h2 id="btc-usdt-4-hour-chart">BTC/USDT 4-Hour Chart</h2>
The 4-hour chart shows a gradual deterioration in short-term structure. Since topping near $87K in late September, BTC has printed a series of lower highs, with the latest attempt being rejected at the $84K short-term resistance band. The decline has brought the price back into the $80K–$81K demand zone, which has absorbed multiple sell-offs since mid-October and now overlaps with the rising lower boundary of the short-term ascending channel.
A successful defense of this confluence could produce a relief bounce toward $84K, with the $86K level standing as the more significant overhead supply. However, a breakdown through both the zone and the trendline would invalidate the short-term ascending structure and expose the $75K–$76K demand area, which is the same daily order block where the mid-September rally originated.
Meanwhile, the 4-hour RSI has dropped to approximately 44 following the latest rejection. Momentum remains below neutral but well above oversold levels, suggesting that sellers hold a modest edge without signaling capitulation. The structure therefore favors caution until buyers can produce a higher high above $84K.

<h2 id="on-chain-analysis">On-Chain Analysis</h2>
The Spot Average Order Size indicator on CryptoQuant classifies spot market activity by the typical size of executed orders. Periods dominated by big or small whale orders are highlighted in green, while phases driven by smaller retail orders are shown in red. Historically, red clusters have tended to appear near local tops and during distribution phases, such as early 2018, early 2022, and late 2025.
More recently, big whale orders have dominated spot activity throughout 2026, including the decline toward $60K and the subsequent recovery toward $80K. The latest readings remain green, while retail participation has been largely absent since the breakdown near $90K in late 2025, suggesting that the market has not yet experienced the speculative retail inflows typically seen near cycle peaks.
However, the metric reflects order size rather than order direction, meaning that whale dominance could represent either accumulation or distribution. Still, the absence of retail-driven activity reduces the likelihood of a crowded top, making the defense of the $80K support area the key factor for the short-term outlook.
