Bitget is taking its real-world asset (RWA) strategy a step further. Instead of limiting users to tokenized stocks and ETFs, the exchange now lets eligible securities move from external brokerage accounts into its ecosystem. It also plans to improve liquidity through a dedicated trading engine. However, the figures suggest the business still has room to grow.

Bitget has recently expanded its product lineup, adding new yield opportunities alongside tokenized equities. Initially, rTokens gave users exposure to US stocks and ETFs. Now, the company wants to connect those digital assets with traditional brokerage accounts.

In a statement dated October 21, Bitget presented this shift as a move beyond product listings toward a more integrated market structure (company announcement).

The first step is rToken Transfer, which launched on October 13 and supports more than 3,000 eligible assets. Users initiate a Free of Payment (FoP) securities transfer from an external broker to Bitget’s designated Alpaca omnibus account. Once the securities arrive, Bitget’s In-Kind Tokenization Network converts them into corresponding rTokens and credits the tokens to the user’s spot account.

As a result, investors can bring existing equity holdings into a tokenized environment without selling their shares first. This approach could make it easier to connect traditional portfolios with digital asset markets.

Super Match Targets Liquidity Beyond Market Hours

Moving securities onto a platform is only part of the challenge. Investors also need reliable pricing and sufficient liquidity to trade efficiently.

That is where Super Match comes in. Bitget describes the system as a way to connect internal trading flows, market makers and multiple price-discovery sources. Its goal is to improve execution and support trading beyond conventional market hours.

This matters because tokenized stocks can trade around the clock, while their underlying US markets follow regular trading schedules. Consequently, platforms need alternative ways to assess prices when traditional exchanges close. Solana’s recent growth in tokenized assets illustrates the expanding market for these products.

Still, Bitget makes no guarantee of deeper liquidity or continuous trading. Pricing and availability will depend on market conditions, supported assets and applicable product terms.

Modest Assets Under Management Leave Room to Grow

The figures provide a useful reality check. By July 6, rTokens had attracted approximately $114 million in assets under management, while cumulative transactions exceeded two million. Bitget also says its Universal Exchange serves more than 125 million users.

However, these figures measure different things. The platform’s user base does not automatically translate into demand for tokenized equities. At roughly $114 million, rToken assets under management suggest that Bitget’s RWA business remains at an early stage.

Meanwhile, traditional financial institutions are exploring similar opportunities. JPMorgan’s move to open JPM Coin to institutions on Ethereum offers another example of the growing interest in blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

Looking ahead, Bitget sees several potential uses for rTokens, including spot trading, eligible margin functions, borrowing, lending and yield products. However, collateral and other financial applications will depend on asset eligibility, local regulations and product terms.

Ultimately, brokerage integration will succeed only if investors can transfer assets easily, receive their tokens quickly and trade with sufficient liquidity. Bitget has outlined the infrastructure, but adoption will determine whether it becomes a meaningful bridge between traditional finance and crypto.
