Ethereum news today is led by a delay to the next big network upgrade. On October 23, 2026, the ETH price today is near $2,408.24, down 0.2%, with a market cap of about $294.21 billion.&nbsp;
Developers postponed the <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/ethereum-glamsterdam-upgrade-guide" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Glamsterdam Upgrade&nbsp;test</a> on Hoodi to study EIP-8037 concerns. Meanwhile, a long-dormant wallet moved 3,000 tokens, and the Cysic exploiter sent funds to Tornado Cash. Here is what it all means for the Ethereum network.

<h2 style="text-align: justify" id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-why-did-ethereum-delay-the-glamsterdam-upgrade-span-span">Why Did Ethereum Delay the Glamsterdam Upgrade?</h2>
The <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/ethereum-news-today-bitmine-eth-buying-eth-price-vitalik-ai" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">latest Ethereum upgrade</a> news is that developers need more time. According to the Ethereum Foundation, core developers decided on the ACDE #248 call to pause the Hoodi rollout. They want to study how EIP-8037 interacts with existing mainnet smart contracts.
EIP-8037 changes how gas is billed. Gas is the fee system that pays for transactions and smart contract actions on the <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/ethereum-news-today-ai-formal-verification-vitalik-eth-price" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Ethereum network</a>. If gas costs shift, some older contracts could behave differently. Testing helps catch those problems early.
The delay also cancels a planned Hoodi gas limit increase to 200 million. That change was meant to take effect at the same epoch as the upgrade.

<h2 style="text-align: justify" id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-does-the-glamsterdam-delay-affect-eth-holders-or-ethereum-users-span-span">Does the Glamsterdam Delay Affect ETH Holders or Ethereum Users?</h2>
For most people, the answer is no. This is a testnet change, not an immediate mainnet change. The announcement says no action is needed from mainnet users or ETH holders.
Key points for readers:
<ul>
 <li>Hoodi is a test network, so your mainnet ETH is not involved.</li>
 <li>No new Hoodi date has been set.</li>
 <li>No mainnet activation date has been announced.</li>
 <li>Hoodi node and validator operators must update their clients so they do not fork at the old time.</li>
</ul>
This is the most useful coin&nbsp;update for everyday holders. Operators should follow their client team’s release notes.

Hoodi node and validator operators should read their execution and consensus client release notes. Look for versions that clearly confirm the postponement. Earlier client release tables do not prove that a version includes the new setup.

The Ethereum price today is $2,408.24, down 0.2%. Market cap is near $294.21 billion, and 24-hour trading volume is $11.9 billion. That makes the ETH price today fairly calm.

Meanwhile, on-chain analysts flagged an old wallet. According to EmberCN, 3,000 ETH&nbsp;sat idle for about 9.5 years after leaving Gemini in 2017. It then moved to Kraken. Lookonchain says the holder bought at about $18.83 per token, and the stack is now worth around $7.23 million, a 128x gain.
A transfer to an exchange does not prove a sale. It also does not signal an imminent drop in the Ethereum coin price. Lookonchain described the holder as having sold, but readers should verify that with exchange or on-chain records.

On October 17, the Cysic cross-chain bridge suffered an exploit that minted 10 million CYS tokens on BNB Chain without permission. PeckShield now reports that an address flagged as the attacker sent 300 tokens&nbsp;and 30.4 BNB to Tornado Cash. That is about $721,140 in tokens and $22,590 in BNB, near $743,000 combined.
Onchain Lens says the full stolen amount has now been laundered. These transfers alone do not confirm that, so wait for official findings. This part of the Ethereum news also shows how mixers can make tracing harder. Still, the transfers do not prove the funds are lost for good or that no recovery is possible.

Onchain Lens saw BlackRock ETF wallets receive 384.77 BTC (about $31.4 million) and 6,334 ETH (about $15.19 million) from Coinbase Prime. Earlier, 18,098 ETH moved the other way. Wallet transfers are not the same as confirmed net investor flows.

Lookonchain says Machi sold two Mutant Apes at a reported loss of roughly 85%. This is a side story to the main Ethereum news.

<h2 style="text-align: justify" id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-what-to-watch-next-in-ethereum-news-span-span">What to Watch Next in Ethereum News</h2>
<ul>
 <li>Developers: watch for a new Hoodi date and confirmed client releases.</li>
 <li>ETH holders: no mainnet action is needed because of the testnet delay.</li>
 <li>Traders: track the Ethereum price, volume, and verified exchange flows. Any Ethereum news prediction built on one wallet move is weak.</li>
 <li>Security-minded users: follow confirmed Cysic updates.</li>
</ul>
<h2 style="text-align: justify" id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-conclusion-span-span">Conclusion</h2>
The Hoodi delay is the main story in Ethereum news because it affects the upgrade timeline and calls for more compatibility checks. The $2,408 market snapshot, the dormant whale transfer, and the Cysic update add useful context. For the latest Ethereum upgrade and Ethereum update news, watch for a revised date and verified on-chain data. Any update from the Ethereum Foundation should come first.
