The upcoming US manufacturing data could influence cryptocurrency market sentiment as traders assess the Federal Reserve’s next interest-rate decision. XRP, SEI, XLM, LINK, and SUI are five altcoins worth watching as investors prepare for possible changes in market conditions.

The US flash manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) is scheduled for release at 9:45 a.m. Eastern Time on October 23. The report provides an early indication of manufacturing activity and can influence expectations about economic growth, inflation, and future monetary policy.

A reading above 56.0 has been identified as a potentially bearish signal for financial markets, while results around 55.3–55.5 could produce a more neutral response. A reading below 55.0 may support market sentiment if traders interpret weaker manufacturing activity as a reason for the Federal Reserve to consider a less restrictive policy.

But the correlation between manufacturing data and cryptocurrency prices is not always clear. The increased activity could boost economic growth, but raise fears of continued inflation. Slower activity could lead to greater expectations for monetary easing, but also could weigh on risk assets due to concern over growth.

The Federal Reserve's Oct. 28 policy decision is also in focus. The manufacturing report may also affect expectations prior to the announcement of the decision, especially if the report is far afield from market expectations.

Cryptocurrencies are impacted by interest rates as they influence borrowing rates, liquidity, and demand for high-risk assets. Lower rate expectations can help support digital assets by helping to improve financial conditions, whereas tightening policy expectations can lead investors to limit exposure to volatile markets.

Other economic indicators, such as inflation figures and employment conditions, will also impact the policymakers. Crypto traders might then react to the manufacturing data before revisiting their trades during the policy meeting.

One of the known digital assets that traders can watch in the economic release is XRP. The price of such a token can react to broader cryptocurrency market movements, shifts in trading volume, and trends related to demand for the token. The downtrend in XRP appears to have been caused by a lack of buying, and the improvement in market conditions on the release of the data may again bring in buyers. On the other hand, a selloff of the altcoins may be triggered by a risk-off sentiment.

SEI Remains on the Altcoin Watchlist

SEI is a blockchain network that is dedicated to applications in the trading sector and decentralized finance. The broader sentiment of the market, network activity, and demand for the ecosystem can all impact its overall market performance. If the macroeconomic sentiment is positive, this could help drive interest in SEI, but if traders decrease exposure to smaller digital assets, the price could be susceptible to volatility.

XLM Could Respond to Changes in Risk Appetite

Stellar's XLM token is linked to a payment and value transfer blockchain. It does not only depend on the overall direction of the market but also on the volume of trading on the asset and events that happen in its payment-related ecosystem. An economic positive data print could help sentiment towards XLM. But, any meaningful improvement would have to be based on actual demand rather than the PMI reading.

LINK's Market Position Depends on Demand

Decentralized oracles that connect blockchain applications with external data are supported by the LINK token, which is the native currency of the Chainlink Network. The long-term prospects of the token are relevant to demand for these services in the decentralized finance sector and other blockchain apps.

LINK could also move in tandem with the markets in the short term as traders react to economic indicators and interest-rate outlook. Should the market tone be more positive, buyers may be encouraged, and with uncertainty over the Fed, that may hold back gains.

SUI Could See Volatility Before the Fed Meeting

SUI is the native cryptocurrency of the Sui blockchain, which is used for decentralized applications, digital assets, and smart contracts. Market activity, network adoption, token supply, and overall investor demand can influence its market performance.

With the PMI release and Fed decision on the horizon, SUI might see more volatility as other altcoins do. It is possible for traders to keep an eye on the trading volume and the levels of key support and resistance to determine if a move is becoming stronger.

What Crypto Traders Should Watch Next

The manufacturing "PMI" release and the Fed decision on October 28th are two major events that will impact the cryptocurrency market. While the use cases of XRP, SEI, XLM, LINK, and SUI are different, they are all susceptible to changes in market sentiment.

Market conditions will be risk-on or cautious depending on the actual PMI reading, the Fed's policy signals, and the activity that follows. The return can be either positive or negative, and it is important to consider risk management while the event period is in effect.
