John Bollinger, the well-known trader and creator of the Bollinger Bands technical indicator, has uncovered a hidden Bitcoin-themed game on CoinMarketCap, a popular cryptocurrency data tracking website.

On October 21, Bollinger shared his discovery with followers on X, noting the presence of a small bird icon in the bottom-left corner of CoinMarketCap’s homepage. When activated, this icon reveals a mini arcade game inspired by Bitcoin‘s historical price movements, bounded by the famous upper and lower bands that bear his name.
Bollinger commented on the engaging nature of the feature, describing it as a nostalgic reminder of the early days of the crypto industry and technical analysis. He encouraged users to try it themselves, expressing his enjoyment of the game’s playful approach to crypto history.

Just saw this @CoinMarketCap has a tiny bird floating in the bottom left corner of their site. Sorta reminds me of the good vibes of the early days. Enjoy!

The mini-game seamlessly blends classic arcade entertainment with the visual patterns of crypto trading. Players guide a small bird through a corridor defined by Bitcoin’s historical price chart, with the path confined between the upper and lower Bollinger Bands. The game’s basic mechanics mirror the popular Flappy Bird, but incorporate elements unique to crypto markets.

Instead of avoiding pipes, as in the original Flappy Bird, players must ensure the bird stays within the Bollinger Bands, avoiding contact with either the upper or lower boundary as they navigate Bitcoin’s famous price swings. Each level represents a different time period in Bitcoin’s history, reflecting real market volatility and challenging players to adapt to widening and contracting bands.
This approach not only entertains but also highlights how Bollinger Bands respond dynamically to changes in market volatility, offering an interactive visualization for both casual gamers and trading enthusiasts.

They consist of three lines: a middle moving average and two bands plotted above and below it. The distance between the bands expands or contracts based on market volatility, helping traders assess whether prices are relatively high or low.
Accessing the game is simple. Users can visit CoinMarketCap and click on the discreet bird icon to start playing. While the rules are straightforward, skillfully maneuvering through periods of Bitcoin’s turbulent price history remains a notable challenge for even the most experienced players.
This hidden game serves as a lighthearted tribute to one of the most influential technical indicators in trading and offers a unique blend of crypto culture and classic mobile gaming.
