The decision does not affect all MEXC users, and those outside those countries can continue trading.

Crypto exchange MEXC has announced it will discontinue services for users located in Russia or Belarus as part of what the platform describes as its ongoing efforts to strengthen global compliance. The decision marks a significant operational shift for one of the larger centralised exchanges still serving those regions.
Significantly, MEXC is not shutting down broadly, and this change does not affect every account holder on the platform. Users based outside Russia and Belarus can continue trading as normal under the platform’s existing terms of service.

Who Is Affected and What Happens Next?

Affected users will receive individual notifications through their registered email address and in-app messages. Each notification will outline the specific timelines and procedures for closing open positions and withdrawing assets. The platform has been clear that every impacted user will receive personalised instructions, not a blanket one-size-fits-all timeline.
If you have not received a notification, your account is not affected. Moreover, MEXC has confirmed that unnotified users may continue using all trading services as usual without any interruption.
Users with questions about their account status or the applicable withdrawal procedures are directed to contact MEXC Customer Service directly rather than relying on third-party sources or unverified information.

The Assets Are Secure

MEXC has explicitly stated that affected users’ assets remain safe throughout this process. Additionally, the exchange has committed to giving each impacted customer a clear schedule and step-by-step instructions to close positions. Also, to move funds out before any service cutoff takes effect.
Alongside the announcement, MEXC reminded users that it will never request payments, account credentials, seed phrases, or asset transfers through private messages. Given that compliance-related announcements like this tend to attract phishing attempts and impersonation accounts. Users are advised to verify all communications through official MEXC channels only and to be cautious of unverified links or messages claiming to be from the exchange.
MEXC’s decision follows a broader trend of centralised exchanges tightening their compliance posture in response to international sanctions frameworks and regulatory pressure. Russia and Belarus have been subject to increasing financial restrictions across traditional and digital asset markets, and this move puts MEXC in line with the compliance standards that most major global exchanges have already adopted.
