Pi Network News today brings an early look at stablecoin mechanics on the network. A test version of OUSD is already trading in liquidity pools on Pi Testnet, well before the official stablecoin has any date on Pi Mainnet.

The token comes from a community developer, has no real-world value and exists to rehearse swap tools. Meanwhile, the real Open Standard stablecoin, OUSD, went live on September 30 across Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo, and announced the <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-news-is-the-pi-ecosystem-ready-for-a-stablecoin" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">PI-Open USD partnership</a>.&nbsp;
So what does the PI stablecoin testnet token show?&nbsp;
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-pi-network-news-today-testnet-ousd-vs-official-open-usd-span-span">Pi Network News Today: Testnet OUSD vs Official Open USD</h3>
The test OUSD was issued from a community account, with an address starting GD25 and ending 3RFO. Developers use it to see how automated market maker pools handle swaps, a 0.3% fee and price slippage. Live pool data is available on the<a href="https://api.testnet.minepi.com" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi testnet API</a>.

The official track is slower. A <a href="https://x.com/PiCoreTeam/status/2105353237750833470" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">September 30 post on X</a> confirmed the Core Team’s partnership with Open Standard, a group of 200+ partners that includes Visa, Google, Stripe and Mastercard.&nbsp;
The Core Team framed stablecoins as a companion to Pi, not a substitute. That <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-news-why-pi-need-stablecoins-alongside-pi-coin" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi Network stablecoin update</a> gave no contract address, launch date or reward mechanics for Pi OUSD.
The Pi Network testnet ecosystem therefore works as a rehearsal space. Smooth pool behavior shows the tools run in testing, though real Mainnet use depends on the Core Team’s rollout. Because testnet tokens carry no monetary value, nobody should pay for them.
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-pi-network-upgrades-2026-protocol-28-mainnet-live-now-span-span">Pi Network Upgrades 2026: Protocol 28 Mainnet Live Now</h3>
Pi Network News on the technical side centers on Protocol 28, which went <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-news-protocol-28-mainnet-live-ecosystem-summit-next" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">live on Mainnet</a> on October 16. Protocol 27 finished in late September, and node operators had been asked to upgrade by October 13. The new version improves how delayed transaction data is handled, allows batch smart contract upgrades and makes app data changes safer.

On-chain telemetry backs this up. It shows Mainnet running stellar-core and Horizon version 28.0.1, with ledgers past 29,312,500 and closes of about five seconds. Together, these changes strengthen the Pi Network blockchain for apps and the DeFi-style tools now being tested.
Another community post by <a href="https://x.com/Koreanteacher1/status/2112694241038381191?s=20" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Dao World</a>, argues that Pi will follow Stellar to Protocol 30, which adds smart contract scaling, post-quantum signature checks and a millisecond ledger clock. The Pi Network blockchain has no published timeline for that step.
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-pi-price-today-holds-near-0-0797-as-the-wider-crypto-market-recovers-span-span">Pi Price Today Holds Near $0.0797 as the Wider Crypto Market Recovers</h3>
For Pi crypto news readers, the market data today as of <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/pi/" rel="noopener noreferrer">October 21 by CoinMarketCap</a>:
<img alt="Pi Network Price Today" src="https://d3iuzwoiyg9qa8.cloudfront.net/webadmin/storage/public/commonEditerImage/yjS8BATKlYyXvtHMo4S970doeZZG6ylCIdkqp9R7.png" width="300" height="424" title="Pi Network Price Today">

 <li>Pi coin price: $0.07967, up 3% in 24 hours</li>
 <li>Market cap:$898.4M, up 3.31%, ranked #68</li>
 <li>24-hour volume: $3.51M, up 5.24%</li>
 <li>Fully diluted value:$7.97B</li>
 <li>Circulating supply:11.27B of a 100B maximum</li>
</ul>
Bitcoin gained 1.22% to $82,590, and the wider crypto market rose 1.42%. The Pi bounce appears linked to that momentum, not to a coin-specific trigger, and thin liquidity can exaggerate such moves.
Pi Network Ecosystem Summit: What Builders Can Expect on Nov. 17–19
With Protocol 28 live, attention turns to the first online Pi Network ecosystem summit, which runs November 17 to 19. Per the<a href="https://minepi.com/blog/introducing-ecosystem-summit/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">summit announcement</a>, the program includes:&nbsp;
<ul>
 <li><a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-news-what-the-first-ecosystem-summit-brings" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Platform releases</a> and developer updates</li>
 <li>Developer demos</li>
 <li>App showcases from companies and community developers</li>
 <li>Talks with the Pi Core Team</li>
 <li>A new hackathon</li>
</ul>
It is the next scheduled checkpoint in Pi Network latest news, and a natural venue for updates on apps and utility.
Pi Network News over the coming weeks hinges on one date the Core Team has not given: when official OUSD reaches Pi Mainnet. Until a contract address appears, the testnet pool stays a rehearsal, and the November summit is the nearest checkpoint for real answers.
