<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/digital-assets-week-london-2026-tickets-prices-and-discounts" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Digital assets</a> have long felt like a world apart from everyday banking, but that gap just got smaller.&nbsp;
According to the<a href="https://x.com/0xPolygon/status/2112614269787468249?s=20" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">project’s official post</a>&nbsp;on X, Sparkasse, described as Europe’s largest banking network, has enabled crypto trading for 50 million retail customers, with the POL token part of the story.&nbsp;
<img alt="According to the project official post on X" src="https://d3iuzwoiyg9qa8.cloudfront.net/webadmin/storage/public/commonEditerImage/eFV4Jl50LYjt8NyFaHnI5WNVXrcDp6B1YCZcwIDm.png" width="300" height="677" title="According to the project official post on X">
This guide explains <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/polygon-crypto-news-cdk-besu-private-bank-blockchains" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Polygon news today</a> in simple words and checks the details against Deka’s own documents, so you know what is confirmed and what is only headline reach.
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-what-exactly-was-announced-span-span">What Exactly Was Announced?</h3>
The post says the savings network’s retail base can now buy and sell digital assets, and it ties the <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-blogs-details/what-is-polygon-and-how-it-is-helping-ethereum-to-scale" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">launch to POL</a>.&nbsp;
The service itself is run by DekaBank under the name "Krypto—powered by Deka," and users reach it inside the Sparkasse app.&nbsp;
The<a href="https://www.deka.de/site/dekade_deka-gruppe_site/get/params_E-781899314/25835801/2026_Sonderbedingungen_Kryptowerte.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Special Terms for Crypto Assets</a> state that trading sits in the “Anlegen” (investing) section of that app and that orders and all communication with Deka happen there.&nbsp;
That makes this one of the more practical items in Polygon news today.
One honest note: the “50 million” figure and the “largest in Europe” label come only from the project’s post.
Deka’s documents do not repeat them, so read 50 million as potential reach, not the number of people who can trade today.&nbsp;
Access depends on several conditions, covered below. The documents reviewed for this article are dated August and September 2026.
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-which-coins-can-you-trade-span-span">Which Coins Can You Trade?</h3>
DekaBank’s<a href="https://www.deka.de/site/dekade_deka-gruppe_site/get/params_E-1387025641/25658090/Ausfuehrungsgrundsaetze_f%C3%BCr_Kryptowerte.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">execution principles</a>, dated August 2026, list five assets offered for trading:
<ul>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Bitcoin</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Ethereum</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Polygon</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Ripple</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Solana</li>
</ul>
Theconsumer information adds a useful warning. Coins were picked for how widely they are used and traded, not because the provider expects them to rise. Being on the list is not a recommendation, and it is not a quality check.&nbsp;
The same document says climate and energy-use details for these coins are published on the provider’s website, though sustainability played no part in the selection.&nbsp;
In short, a listing is access, not advice, and that matters for anyone following Polygon news today.
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-how-does-trading-work-inside-the-app-span-span">How Does Trading Work Inside the App?</h3>
Retail customers do not trade on an <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/bitcoin-exchange-vs-wallet" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">open exchange</a>. The execution principles explain that Deka signs buy and sell contracts directly with the customer, using its own capital.&nbsp;
The steps are simple:
<ul>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">The app shows a price for the amount you choose. The Special Terms call this a request-for-quote process.</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Your order stays binding for up to ten seconds, then the offer expires.</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">The price is based on real-time market data plus Deka’s own spread, and costs are shown before you confirm, as the consumer information explains.</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Payment is taken from your linked clearing account, and coins normally arrive in your crypto account by the second banking day.</li>
</ul>
Withdrawals work differently. The Special Terms say transfers normally finish within three banking days, and coins can only go to approved crypto service providers after compliance checks.&nbsp;
Your coins are kept separate from the provider’s own assets, and a holdings statement arrives at least every three months.
Good to know: the service has a daily maintenance window from 23:30 to 00:30, and short selling is not allowed.&nbsp;
If a trade is booked at a clearly wrong price, deviating by more than 2%, it can be cancelled as a so-called mistrade.
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-who-can-join-and-what-do-you-need-span-span">Who Can Join, and What Do You Need?</h3>
Not everyone with a Sparkasse card can start. The Special Terms set clear entry rules:
<div>
 <table>
 <colgroup>
 <col width="177">
 <col width="438">
 </colgroup>
 <tbody>
 <tr>
 <td>Requirement</td>
 <td>What the documents say</td>
 </tr>
 <tr>
 <td>Age</td>
 <td>18 or older</td>
 </tr>
 <tr>
 <td>Residence and tax</td>
 <td>Living and taxed only in Germany</td>
 </tr>
 <tr>
 <td>Account</td>
 <td>Account at a cooperating Sparkasse</td>
 </tr>
 <tr>
 <td>Online banking</td>
 <td>Active contract and electronic mailbox</td>
 </tr>
 <tr>
 <td>Identity</td>
 <td>Passing KYC checks and email verification</td>
 </tr>
 <tr>
 <td>Purpose</td>
 <td>Private use, not business</td>
 </tr>
 <tr>
 <td>Payments</td>
 <td>Settlement arranged via S Broker AG &amp; Co. KG</td>
 </tr>
 </tbody>
 </table>
</div>
The offer is also meant for well-informed, experienced investors who accept high risk.&nbsp;
A Sparkasse counts as cooperating only if it signed a provider contract with DekaBank, and the list is published on the Deka website.&nbsp;
If you move to a branch outside that group, Deka may refuse service, and if the contract ends you must sell or withdraw your holdings.&nbsp;
Fees are listed in separate price information, so check it before your first trade.
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-risks-and-tax-points-to-know-before-you-start-span-span">Risks and Tax Points to Know Before You Start</h3>
The consumer information is blunt about risk:
<ul>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Prices can swing sharply, and you can lose part or all of your money.</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">No guarantee fund or compensation scheme covers these services.</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">The provider gives no advice; it checks appropriateness, not suitability.</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">You can cancel within 14 days using the withdrawal function in the app.</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">Each year, transaction data of reportable users goes to Germany’s Federal Central Tax Office, and Deka does not pay your taxes for you.</li>
</ul>
Check your own tax position with a tax adviser.
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-conclusion-span-span">Conclusion</h3>
Sparkasse’s move is a real step toward making digital assets feel normal for everyday savers, but the conditions matter as much as the headline.&nbsp;
Access needs a cooperating branch, German residency, and full identity checks, and the risks are real.&nbsp;
For anyone following Polygon news today, the takeaway is clear: Polygon is on the list, the doors are opening, and careful reading comes first.
