The firm offloaded roughly two million SOL as its corporate strategy failed to translate into shareholder value

SkyAI has sold its entire Solana treasury, unwinding a position built up over recent months. The company had previously accumulated roughly two million SOL tokens as part of a broader corporate strategy. That strategy mirrored a wave of publicly traded firms adding crypto assets to their balance sheets.

Reports from BitKE and Crypto News Australia indicate the exit was driven by two compounding pressures. The first was direct losses on the Solana holdings themselves. The second was a persistent discount applied to SkyAI's equity relative to the value of its underlying crypto assets.

The equity discount problem has become a familiar challenge for digital-asset treasury companies. These firms often trade below the net value of their crypto holdings. Investors sometimes apply skepticism toward corporate structures built primarily around holding a single volatile asset.

When a company's stock trades at a discount to its treasury value, the stated rationale for holding crypto on the balance sheet weakens. Shareholders may question whether direct exposure to the asset, without the corporate wrapper, would serve them better. That dynamic appears to have factored into SkyAI's decision to liquidate its position entirely.

The move marks a reversal from the accumulation phase many treasury firms pursued earlier in the cycle. Companies across several sectors added Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana to their reserves. They positioned these holdings as both an investment and a signal of conviction in digital assets.

SkyAI's full exit stands out because it represents a complete unwind rather than a partial trim. Few publicly known treasury strategies tied to Solana have reached this scale of accumulation and then reversed course entirely. The decision raises questions about the durability of corporate crypto-treasury models more broadly, particularly for firms whose core business lies outside digital assets.

The specific size of the realized losses has not been detailed in available reporting. Neither has the exact timeline of the sale been fully disclosed. What is established is the end state: SkyAI no longer holds Solana as a treasury asset, following a buildup that reached roughly two million tokens.

Market Impact

A full liquidation of this scale by a known treasury holder could add incremental selling pressure to Solana markets, though the broader price impact depends on how the sale was executed and over what timeframe. Traders watching corporate Solana exposure may view this as a signal that the treasury-company model carries real execution risk, not just balance-sheet optics.

More broadly, the episode could prompt scrutiny of other publicly traded firms holding large crypto positions, particularly those trading at discounts to net asset value. If equity markets continue to undervalue these holdings relative to spot crypto prices, more companies may face shareholder pressure to unwind similar strategies.

SkyAI's complete exit from its Solana treasury underscores the risks corporate crypto-holding strategies carry when equity markets fail to reward them. The episode may prompt renewed scrutiny of similar treasury models across the industry.
