The search for the best altcoin to buy usually ends in a pile of tips, but this week three names rise above the noise: Pepeto, Chainlink and Ondo. A whale just showed why that search matters so much.

Over three days, one wallet sold 1,074.36 BTC, worth about $89.5 million, for 36,159 ETH, worth about $90.6 million, per PANews. A big Bitcoin holder just chose an altcoin, and altcoins have rewarded early buyers before. ETH sold for about $0.31 in its 2014 presale, per CoinCodex, and later hit $4,953.73.

Chainlink and Ondo both bring real deals to this list. But buyers hunting for an ETH style early start keep landing on Pepeto, a presale that has already drawn over $11.1 million while still unlisted.

What Did the Whale Do With $89.5M in Bitcoin?

The whale sold 1,074.36 BTC for about $89.5 million and bought 36,159 ETH worth about $90.6 million, flagged by the tracker Lookonchain on October 14, per PANews and Coinfomania. ETH had opened October 13 near $2,444, per Cointribune.

That is a loud move. A holder with nearly $90 million chose an altcoin over Bitcoin at these prices, which shows where serious money sees room to grow.

For a smaller buyer, the real question follows naturally: which altcoin still has the most room left to run? The three picks below answer it.

Three Picks After the Whale's Ether Swap: Pepeto, Chainlink and Ondo

1. Pepeto: A Live Scanner That Stops a Bad Coin Before You Buy It

A whale can test a coin and shrug off a loss. A small buyer cannot, because one bad contract can wipe out the whole stake. Pepeto built its platform around that exact risk.

That focus makes Pepeto the best altcoin to buy for anyone tired of finding out a coin was a trap only after trying to sell it. Pepe's own cofounder built it, and its security scanner is live today.

The scanner runs 42 checks on a coin's code and reads its live state on chain. It hunts for hidden owners, mint and pause switches, taxes that can change, and wallets that hold too much. Then it tests a buy and a sell on a copy of the chain, so the result shows up before any money moves.

Each coin gets a score from 0 to 100 and a plain verdict, and a critical flaw blocks the trade by default. In one shown scan, a coin scored 6. Its test sale failed, so the scanner flagged a honeypot, a coin anyone can buy but no one can sell, and stopped the trade cold.

Right beside it runs PepetoSwap, where swaps cost 0.00% and gas is the only cost. So a buyer can check a coin and trade it for free in one place.

The scanner works, the raise tops $11.1 million, and a Binance listing is expected ahead. Yet Pepeto still sells at $0.00000019, a price that climbs every time a stage ends. The whale bought ETH years after it was famous, while this seat is still early.

2. Chainlink: Its Price Data Went Live on Stellar on October 14

LINK trades at $12.41, per CoinMarketCap, 76.5% below its $52.88 peak from May 2021. On October 14, Chainlink price feeds went live on Stellar, with the Stellar Development Foundation covering the costs, per CryptoTicker. Another big chain just chose Chainlink's data, and that keeps its growth story strong.

Analyst Aashish Vishwakarma at CoinGabbar sees $14.13 by October 31 if LINK breaks $13.49. That is a solid 14% move, though LINK still needs about 326% to see its old high again.

3. Ondo: Its Treasury Token Just Passed BlackRock's Fund

ONDO trades at $0.4566, per CoinMarketCap, 78.7% below its $2.14 peak from December 2024. On October 13, Ondo's USDY held about $2.328 billion, passing BlackRock's BUIDL at about $2.204 billion, per TokenPost. Beating BlackRock at its own game is a real milestone.

Yash Jain at Coinpedia maps levels at $0.52, $0.59 and $0.70, with $1.14 on top. Even that top level is about 2.5x, and ONDO needs about 369% to see its old high. Ondo has a real product and real money, but much of that is already in the price.

Verdict: LINK and ONDO Sit Over 75% Below Their Peaks, While Pepeto Has Yet to List

Pepeto is the best altcoin to buy on this list, because its scanner already works and its price has never met an exchange. Chainlink brings real data deals and Ondo brings real money. Neither pairs a presale price with a live scanner, a free exchange and a 500x projection from analysts.

The whale paid about $2,500 per ETH this week for a coin that first sold at $0.31, so the real winners of that trade bought in 2014. Pepeto is that 2014 seat today, open on the Pepeto official website until this stage ends. Holding it at listing is what puts a buyer in line for that 500x run.

Head to the Pepeto presale and check today's stage

FAQs

What is the best altcoin to buy for a shot at 500x, not just 2x?

Pepeto is the best altcoin to buy for a 500x shot, because it is still a presale on the Pepeto official website. Analysts project up to 500x, while ONDO's top level is about 2.5x.

Why does Pepeto stand out ahead of its expected Binance listing?

Pepeto stands out because it offers the presale seat ETH buyers had in 2014, before whales can buy it on any exchange. Those $0.31 ETH buyers saw about 16,000x.
