Midnight

Cardano

Cardano had a good day, and so the Midnight token. If you checked the charts this morning, you already felt something shift. Here is the Cardano news today that explains it in plain words. Two Cardano Governance Vote actions close tomorrow, the network is closing in on a transaction record, and a university in Cyprus is about to start teaching it in its classrooms.
Here is why ADA price is up today, why Midnight price today climbed too, and what comes next.
Key Takeaways

ADA price today is $0.2535, up 5.7% in 24 hours, with a $9.519 billion market cap and $542.415 million in 24 hour trading volume, as per CoinGecko data, and up 3.3% over the past week.

Midnight price today for NIGHT jumped 7.5% to $0.04868, pushing its market cap to $809.614 million on $20.258 million in daily volume.

Two Governance Vote proposals, one cutting minPoolCost and one funding the OpenZeppelin Stack, close voting on October 11, while Cardano chain is on track for a record transaction count this epoch.

Two active Governance Actions close on October 11, as per official X post. As per Official documents, the first proposes cutting minPoolCost from 170,000,000 Lovelace (170 ADA) to 75,000,000 Lovelace (75 ADA), a drop of about 55.9%, with no other parameter changed. So far 127 DReps have voted, 58 gave a written reason, 1 switched to a yes vote carrying 31.8K ADA of voting power, and 3 re-voted the same way.

The second asks to withdraw 11,787,063 ADA from the treasury for the OpenZeppelin Stack, run by Intersect, to fund design, building, a security audit, and wider use over 12 months in quarterly steps. 113 DReps have voted on it, 56 with a rationale, and 2 re-voted unchanged.
Anyone who holds voting power and hasn't voted yet still has time before the cut-off.

On-chain numbers are close to a record

A Cardanians X post reports that it is on track to post the most transactions in a single epoch ever, this is one of the biggest Cardano news today. Over 950,000 transactions have gone through so far, with more than half the epoch still left to run, per Cexplorer data.

The current all-time record stands at 1,566,974 transactions in Epoch 304, set five years ago. It has also passed 125,000,000 total processed transactions on mainnet, and this epoch alone has already added 986,787 of them.

The Cardano Foundation is joining the University of Nicosia in Cyprus this fall for its Blockchain and Digital Assets course. The Foundation will teach basics and sponsor 25 Advanced Track places for students, giving the next generation of builders a reason to learn about it from day one.

Why Is Midnight (NIGHT) Token Price Up Today?

Midnight price today is at $0.04868, up 7.5% in 24 hours, with a $809.614 million market cap and $20.258 million in 24 hour trading volume, and it climbed for its own reasons, separate from the Cardano Governance Vote news above.

A Cardanians X post reports that Charles Hoskinson introduced Moriarty, an intent-based programming language built for Midnight DeFi. Instead of writing out every step a transaction must take, Moriarty lets a person state what the transaction should achieve, summed up in the line: "Don't sign the steps, sign the income."
On top of that, NIGHT, described as the largest token on the chain by market cap, has passed 88,000 unique holders, per X post. That's a big number for a token that only launched 10 months ago. The redemption period for eligible wallets is still open too, and it runs until December, giving holders more time to act.

What's Next?

Two dates matter most from here. October 11 is the Cardano Governance Vote cut-off for both the minPoolCost change and the OpenZeppelin Stack withdrawal, so the next few hours will decide both outcomes.
Further out, the Amaru node team is aiming for a beta release about four weeks after its September 29 pre-release, which points to around October 27. This beta would push Cardano's node infrastructure forward, though its effect on ADA price is likely small for now, since it still comes before the node handles any mainnet block production.
Expert Opinion: Market watchers note that today's Cardano news today lines up with real activity rather than pure speculation. Rising DRep turnout before a Governance Vote deadline, a near-record transaction count, and a university partnership all point to steady on-chain use rather than a single rumor.
That said, gains tied to a voting deadline can fade once the vote closes and no fresh catalyst follows, so ADA token price today should be read as a reaction to this week's events, not a guaranteed trend.
Midnight's move looks tied to the Moriarty announcement and holder growth, both signs of active building, though a young token with 88,000 holders can still swing sharply in either direction. Watching October 11 and the Amaru beta date around October 27 gives a clearer sense of where both prices head next.
