Pi Network Roadmap and the Network’s Path From Launch to Expansion
Pi Network is a mobile-first crypto project where users, called Pioneers, earn Pi-tokens by checking in daily through a phone app instead of running energy-heavy mining hardware.
The Pi-Network-Roadmap has become a frequent search topic because the project moved from a closed stage into a more open one, and many holders now want to know which promised steps were actually completed.
According to the project'sofficial roadmap page, the plan has three phases: beta, testnet, and mainnet. The Mainnet phase was split further into an enclosed period and an open period.

What Is Pi Network, and How Does It Work?

Pi-Network describes itself as a peer-to-peer ecosystem built around a cryptocurrency called Pi. Members confirm activity in the mobile app daily, form Security Circles with trusted contacts, and can invite others through referral teams.
Behind the app sits a blockchain that desktop computers help run. These machines, called nodes, take part in consensus, which is the process that lets a network agree on which transactions are valid.
The project says its consensus relies on voting among nodes, with extra weight given to participants that rank higher in the network's trust graph, rather than on repeated hash calculations.

The table below summarizes the milestones listed in the Pi-Network Roadmap and its product sections.

Beta gathered people, Testnet let developers build with test tokens, and the enclosed period put a live blockchain in place without outside contact.
While the firewall stood, the Mainnet could not connect to other blockchains, wallets, or exchanges, so Pi Network exchange listings only became a practical question as the open stage approached.

Which Growth Milestones Appear in the Pi-Network Roadmap?

The Pi-Network Roadmap also tracks the number of engaged Pioneers over time:

1 million in October 2019

10 million in December 2020

25 million in September 2021

35 million in May 2022

55 million in June 2023

These figures are self-reported, and "engaged" is the project's own definition. They show participation inside the app rather than independent proof of adoption.
Pi-rewards participation very differently from hash-based systems, as the comparison of Pi Network vs Bitcoin mining explains.

How Do KYC and Migration Fit Into the Pi Network Roadmap?

KYC, short for Know Your Customer, is an identity check. Pi-Network uses it to confirm that each account belongs to one real person, and passing it is a requirement before a Pioneer can move a mobile balance onto the Mainnet blockchain.
The project says its scalable KYC system reached most of the network in June 2022 and handled one million applications in a month.

What Does the Migration Order Look Like?

The project'smainnet migration update from April 2025 sets out three priorities. First come, first served. Initial migrations for Pioneers are already in the queue, covering verified base mining, Security Circle, lockup, app usage, and confirmed Node rewards.
Second migrations follow and add referral bonuses. After that, the network plans periodic migrations, with the schedule still to be decided.
The same update says more than 12 million people had migrated, while the condition for entering the Open Network was set at 10 million. It adds that the transferable balance in the app is a cautious estimate, so the migrated amount can differ.

What Does the Pi Network Roadmap Say About Tokenomics?

Tokenomics is the plan for how a token is created, split, and released. Pi's published model sets a maximum supply of 100 billion tokens.

<colgroup>
<col width="195">
<col width="110">

Allocation

Amount

Share of maximum supply

Community mining rewards

65 billion

65%

Core Team

20 billion

20%

Foundation reserves

10 billion

10%

Liquidity

5 billion

5%

The detail that matters is how these buckets behave. According to the project, each allocation tracks the community's migrated mining rewards, so the effective total supply equals migrated mining rewards divided by 65%. In practice, the Core Team and reserve shares grow only as Pioneers migrate, which the project says aligns interests.
Mining issuance follows a declining exponential decay model in thePi whitepaper, with a monthly cap and a falling base mining rate.
Maximum supply is not circulating supply, and neither one equals market value. Supply figures feed into valuation debates such as the Pi Network price prediction, but supply alone never sets a price.

What Is Still Listed in the Pi Network Roadmap Pipeline?

Several items in the Pi Network Roadmap remain labelled as in progress or future work:

Mainnet Node software, with criteria for selecting super nodes

A review of the mining reward formula before the Open Network stage

Second migrations that include referral bonuses

More Mainnet apps in the Pi-Browser's Ecosystem Interface

None of these entries carry a firm delivery date, so within the Pi-Network-Roadmap they read as intentions rather than commitments.

Expert Analysis: How Reliable Is the Pi Network Roadmap Today?

The most important line on the Pi-Network Roadmap-page is a notice at the top. It labels the page a legacy version from before the Open Network, says it is no longer updated, and calls it a historical reference only.
Read together with the April 2025 migration update, the record suggests the schedule moved. The roadmap-page tied Open Network progress to a 2024 target, yet the later update treats the open stage as the current setting. The project says it is still deciding how to share future plans, so no replacement roadmap exists yet.
For ongoing context on utility and adoption, the outlook is discussed in future Pi Network coverage.

What Are the Main Risks Around the Pi Network Roadmap?

No live roadmap. Direction depends on scattered official announcements.

Undated pipeline items. Planned features have no stated delivery schedule.

Self-reported metrics. User and Node counts come from the project itself.

Unverified community apps. The project states its core team cannot guarantee their safety.

Migration friction. KYC delays and queue times can slow access to the mainnet.

Conclusion

Pi Network moved through Beta, Testnet, and an enclosed Mainnet. The Pi Network Roadmap shows clear delivery in the early stages. The tokenomics are published, the migration order is explained, and growth figures are available, though they come from the project.
What remains uncertain is the forward path of the Pi Network Roadmap. The roadmap page is frozen, pipeline items lack dates, and several claims lack independent confirmation.
