In an interview published by Wu Blockchain, Abiodun said Sui should be seen as payment infrastructure rather than just another Layer 1 blockchain. He said the long-term goal is to “replace SWIFT.”

Crypto analyst Ali Martinez said on Oct. 2 that SUI has formed a series of parallel consolidation channels before breaking higher since Sept. 12. He named $1.27 as the next level, saying an hourly close above it “could confirm another bullish breakout.”

SUI has since moved closer to that mark but has not cleared it. The token reached a 24-hour high near $1.26.

On the weekly chart, SUI is trading above the upper Bollinger Band near $1.19. The 20-week middle band sits around $0.83. The Relative Strength Index stands at 58.71, above the neutral 50 level but below the overbought mark of 70.

Analyst Celal Kucuker said a bull flag is nearing resistance. He said a break of the pattern in October could bring $2 into view, and he tied a longer-term call above $10 to a future bull market.

Stablecoins and AI Agents Drive Sui’s Payment Plans

Sui Foundation said in May that the network has processed more than $1 trillion in stablecoin transfers since August 2025. It also introduced gasless transfers for supported stablecoins, so users do not need to hold SUI to pay fees.

USDsui, the network’s native dollar token, launched on March 4 through Stripe-owned Bridge. Abiodun said USDsui has reached about $75 million.

Payment firm Daya added Sui as settlement infrastructure in September for products serving businesses in Nigeria. The company plans to expand into South Africa, Ghana and Kenya. RedotPay also added support for SUI and native USDC on Sui in April.

On AI, Google listed Mysten Labs among more than 60 groups helping build AP2, its open protocol for AI-driven payments. Other members include Mastercard, PayPal and Coinbase.

Sui’s AI tools include Walrus for storage, Seal for access controls and Nautilus for verifiable computing. In July, a public test using off-chain programmable channels reached a peak of 6,086,766 transactions per second.

Abiodun acknowledged a drop in total value locked during the interview. DefiLlama data places Sui DeFi TVL near $550 million, with stablecoin market cap close to $482 million.

The network recorded about 25.3 million transactions over the latest 24-hour period, according to DefiLlama.

SUI is currently trading near $1.23, just below Martinez’s $1.27 trigger. A return below roughly $1.19 would move the price back inside the weekly Bollinger Band.
