The crypto Fear & Greed Index registered 70 (Greed) on October 5 as Zcash, Bitcoin, Shiba Inu and Binance Coin each posted 24-hour gains, with BTC holding within a defined $83,000-$87,000 range, ZEC sitting just above a critical support band, and both SHIB and BNB pressing against near-term resistance ceilings that technical analysts say could determine the next directional leg.

October 5 Crypto Market Snapshot: What to Know

Total crypto market capitalization stood at $2.92 trillion on October 5, with Bitcoin dominance at 59.3%. The broader macro backdrop remained a headwind: as CoinDesk reported, rising bond yields and a firmer U.S. dollar weighed on risk assets even as BTC briefly topped $86,885 on October 2, roughly 3% higher month-to-date.

Three levels to monitor today:

BTC $87,000 — a daily close above this level targets the $89,000-$90,000 band; failure to hold $82,000 invalidates the range.

ZEC $1,330 — bottom of the cited support zone; a breach reopens downside from ETF-flow-driven selling pressure.

BNB $805 — the line separating range consolidation from a breakout toward $820-$850.

Principal risks: macro sensitivity to Friday's U.S. jobs data, net ETF outflows from Grayscale products, and broad altcoin correlation to any BTC directional break. This analysis is date-specific and does not constitute financial advice.
Zcash and Bitcoin Price Analysis for October 5

Bitcoin traded at $86,340, up +1.78% on the day, with a market cap of approximately $1.74 trillion and 24-hour volume near $17.7 billion. Technical structure per the U.Today analysis confines near-term price action to the $83,000-$87,000 band, with a confirmed daily close above $87,000 required to target $89,000-$90,000.

The $82,000 level functions as the key lower boundary; a breach would expose BTC to a retest of deeper support and likely accelerate selling in correlated altcoins. Macro sensitivity remains elevated ahead of the U.S. jobs report, a setup consistent with the October 2 session where BTC pared gains as bond yields ticked higher.
Zcash (ZEC) was priced at $1,351.96, up +2.75% over 24 hours, with market cap near $22.95 billion and 24-hour volume of approximately $465 million. The spot price sits just above the $1,280-$1,330 support zone identified in the U.Today October 5 analysis, making the current level a structurally significant read: a hold suggests the zone is absorbing sellers, while a close below $1,280 would extend the correction.

Upside recovery resistance clusters at $1,400-$1,450 — a zone ZEC must clear to shift near-term structure. The first recovery target is meaningful given recent ETF-flow dynamics: Decrypt reported ZEC at $1,333.50 on October 1, approximately 21% below its $1,698 cycle peak, with Grayscale's Zcash ETF recording a $30.25 million net outflow on September 30. That outflow pressure is the primary reason ZEC underperformed BTC's October recovery, and its persistence would suppress any rally toward $1,450.

The U.Today analysis also noted, according to a single source, that a Zcash NU7 public testnet is scheduled for October 6 with faster block times proposed — though no official Zcash announcement was independently verified to confirm this schedule. If confirmed, it would represent a near-term protocol catalyst layered on top of an already-stressed support zone. For prior ZEC range setups see Solana, Zcash, Bitcoin Price Analysis for July 30 and BTC, ETH, XRP, ZEC Price Analysis for July 16, which tracked comparable support tests.

On a relative-strength basis, ZEC's +2.75% 24-hour gain narrowly outpaced BTC's +1.78%, consistent with the higher-beta behavior typical during risk-on windows. If BTC breaks above $87,000 and holds, ZEC historically amplifies that move; if BTC loses $82,000, ZEC's proximity to the $1,280-$1,330 support band makes it more vulnerable to a faster drawdown.

Shiba Inu and Binance Coin Price Analysis for October 5

Shiba Inu (SHIB) traded at $0.00000593, up +3.30% in 24 hours, with a market cap of approximately $3.49 billion. The U.Today analysis places immediate resistance at $0.0000056-$0.0000057 — already below the current spot print, which means SHIB has traded through that band and is now pressing toward the next ceiling at $0.0000059-$0.0000060.

The September high of $0.0000062 is the key reference for a fuller recovery. SHIB's +3.30% daily move is the largest percentage gain among the four assets tracked here, consistent with its higher sentiment sensitivity and thinner market depth relative to BTC and BNB. A failure to sustain above $0.0000057 on a daily close would be a reversal signal, with the prior resistance band flipping to support. For context on prior SHIB technical setups, the Shiba Inu, XRP, Bitcoin and Hyperliquid Price Analysis for June 24 tracked a comparable resistance test.

Binance Coin (BNB) was priced at $794.46, up +1.04% over 24 hours, with a market cap of approximately $105.79 billion. Immediate resistance sits at $795-$805 per the U.Today framework — BNB is effectively at the lower boundary of that zone at the current quote, making the $805 level the decisive print. A confirmed break above $805 opens the $820 intermediate target, with approximately $850 as the next significant resistance.

First support for BNB is mapped at $765-$770, roughly 3.6% below spot. The risk/reward contrast between SHIB and BNB is structural: SHIB offers higher percentage upside to its next resistance cluster but carries wider intraday ranges and sentiment-driven volatility, while BNB's $105 billion market cap provides deeper liquidity and tighter spread behavior, making its $805 breakout threshold more mechanically reliable as a momentum signal.

The October 5 setup for all four assets converges on a common risk factor: BTC's behavior at the $87,000 ceiling. A daily close above that level would likely pull BNB through $805, give SHIB room toward $0.0000060, and allow ZEC to retest $1,400. Conversely, a BTC rejection at $87,000 combined with macro deterioration from jobs data would put ZEC's $1,280-$1,330 support band and BNB's $765-$770 floor immediately in play.
