Coinbase has announced it will support the token swap of Aerodrome Finance (AERO) and Velodrome Finance (VELO) into one new unified token. The conversion window runs from November 2-4, 2026.
This Coinbase migration news matters because the two tokens convert at different rates. Trading and transfers will also change during the window. Here is what exchange users should know.

What Is the Coinbase AERO and VELO Token Migration?

Aerodrome and Velodrome are decentralized exchanges built by the same team, Dromos Labs. They are merging into a single unified platform. The project first announced the plan on November 12, 2025.
The merger replaces two tokens with one new token. The exchange will convert eligible customer balances automatically. Most users will not need to take any action.

AERO vs. VELO Conversion Rates: How Much Will Holders Receive?

Existing holders of the Aerodrome token get a simple 1:1 swap. If you hold 100 tokens, you receive 100 new tokens.
Holders of the Velodrome token receive about 0.044 new tokens for each one. For example, 1,000 Velodrome tokens would convert to roughly 44 new tokens. Check your balance and do the math before the swap begins.
The split follows protocol revenue over the 52 weeks before the merger news. Aerodrome earned about $260 million in that period, and Velodrome earned about $15 million. As a result, Aerodrome holders receive about 94.5% of the new supply and Velodrome holders get 5.5%.

What Happens to AERO and VELO Trading, Deposits, and Withdrawals?

Coinbase says sends and receives of both tokens will be temporarily disabled from November 2-4. Please avoid depositing or transferring either token during this time.
Velodrome order books have already moved to limit-only mode. That means you can place resting orders, but you cannot execute instantly against the book. Trading is then disabled on November 2. The exchange says Aerodrome trading will not be impacted.
After the swap, do not send the legacy Aerodrome token to your Coinbase deposit address. Those deposits may not be recoverable.

Can Coinbase Users Opt Out of the Automatic AERO Conversion?

Yes. Send your tokens to a compatible self-custody wallet before November 2, 2026. Confirm that the wallet supports the token and network first.
Self-custody holders may need to follow a separate process through the project. Read the official guide on the project website before you act. Tax consequences may apply, and the rules depend on where you live.

The platform aims to be a unified liquidity layer across Ethereum networks. It will launch on seven chains: Base, Ethereum Mainnet, Robinhood Chain, Arc, OP Mainnet, Arbitrum, and Ink. The team says the chains Aerodrome and Velodrome now account for roughly 17% of EVM spot trading volume, and the launch aims to roughly triple that.
Planned features include cross-chain Metaswaps, Slipstream concentrated liquidity pools, Dynamic Fees, and Predictive Allocation. Staking holders will direct rewards across the network.
Market reaction has been strong. After the merger news in late September 2026, the Aerodrome token rose 25.5% to $0.89. The Velodrome token gained 22.1% and touched $0.038 intraday. Launch plans and features do not guarantee future prices, volume, or returns.
