Cumulative net inflow still stands at $13.95B, with $630.85M traded that day. Total net assets sit at $17.79B, or 5.42% of its total value.

Bond Yields Add Pressure on Risk Assets

Rising bond yields are a key answer to why is crypto market down today. Per The Kobeissi Letter, Trump paused tariffs on April 9, 2025, right as the 10-year Treasury yield hit 4.60%. He later said watching bond yields shaped that call.
Today, the 10-year yield sits 70 basis points above that April 2025 high, with the US Treasury appearing to step back for now. Higher yields make safer assets more attractive than risk assets, and that shift is a direct driver behind Bitcoin, Ethereum and Chainlink slipping lower today alongside the wider market pullback.

Bitget Hack Report Shakes Trader Confidence

A fresh hack report is another reason why is crypto market down today. As per Wu Blockchain, SlowMist founder Cos said its TrackAgent tool tracked suspected North Korean hackers moving stolen Bitget funds through CoW Protocol and Chainflip. Automated scripts built CoW orders using pre-set Chainflip deposit addresses, sending funds straight into cross-chain swaps before converting them to Bitcoin.
North Korea-linked actors are suspected in the roughly $350 million Bitget hack, though attribution remains under investigation. Reports like this shake trader confidence fast, adding fresh caution on top of bond yield pressure and pulling prices down further today.

What Next: FIL's Supply Cut and Aster Card Rollout

On October 15, Filecoin FIL's vesting program ends, cutting gross issuance by roughly 75%, the largest supply change since mainnet launch. That's a dated, major supply-side event as emission pressure drops sharply.
In the coming days, Aster Card plans to make on-chain balances usable for everyday payments, pushing the project past trading and into daily use.
Expert Opinion: Analysts note today's decline reflects macro pressure meeting crypto-specific stress at the same time. Rising bond yields tend to pull money away from risk assets, and that lines up with today's fall in Bitcoin, Ethereum and Chainlink. The Ethereum ETF outflow, small next to its $17.79B asset base, points to short-term caution among large buyers rather than a structural shift. The Bitget hack report adds a trust concern layered on top of the macro picture. The FIL vesting cliff on October 15 could bring renewed volatility given the size of the supply change involved.

Conclusion

Why is Crypto market down today? Today's slide comes down to rising bond yields, Ethereum ETF outflows and hack-driven caution, not one single event. Bitcoin, ETH and Chainlink slipped together while smaller tokens fell harder. Watch FIL's October 15 supply cut and Aster Card's rollout next.
