Cat in a Dogs World ($MEW) has jumped 20% in the past 24 hours and is up 13% over the past seven days, riding a broader wave of renewed appetite for Solana-based memecoins.

A Cat-Themed Counter to Dog Coins

$MEW launched on the Solana blockchain in March 2024, positioning itself as a deliberate alternative to the dog-themed tokens that had long dominated the memecoin space. Rather than chasing the Dogecoin or Shiba Inu playbook, the project built its identity around a cat narrative, with its tokenomics structured to match. At launch, the team burned 90% of its initial liquidity pool and airdropped the remaining 10% to existing Solana community members, including holders of BONK, WIF, and Solana Mobile phone users, creating what supporters described as a fair-launch structure with no team allocation.

Despite the recent rebound, $MEW remains around 95% below its all-time high of $0.01288. Its market capitalisation currently stands near $49.8 million, according to CoinGecko. As of mid-September 2026, MEW was trading in a range of roughly $0.0003 to $0.0006, with a market cap between $30 million and $55 million, reflecting just how compressed the token has remained relative to its peak.

$MEW's move is not happening in isolation. Solana ecosystem memecoins added approximately $170 million in total market capitalisation over the same 24-hour period, signalling a broader rotation back into the sector. Solana itself has been on a strong run, rising roughly 68% over the two months to late September 2026, reaching a price of $124. That kind of underlying momentum in $SOL tends to pull liquidity into higher-beta plays like memecoins, with established tokens such as $MEW often among the first to benefit when sentiment shifts.

Analysts have previously noted that capital within the Solana memecoin ecosystem rotates in a tiered fashion, with blue-chip cat coins like $MEW acting as a secondary beneficiary once leading tokens such as $POPCAT begin to move. The current setup appears to fit that pattern.

Whether the latest move marks the start of a sustained recovery or a short-term bounce remains an open question. $MEW is still deep in the red from its highs, and the memecoin market remains highly sensitive to shifts in broader crypto sentiment.
