The homebuilder has captured attention primarily due to Berkshire Hathaway’s continued accumulation of shares.

Warren Buffett’s investment vehicle expanded its ownership in Lennar to 11% during recent trading sessions. This increase represents the culmination of multiple buying episodes over recent weeks.
Berkshire’s investment in the homebuilder now exceeds $2 billion in value. The conglomerate has effectively doubled its position since late June.
Surpassing the 10% ownership threshold carries significant implications. Federal regulations mandate that Berkshire report new purchases within two business days, an uncommon level of transparency for the typically secretive investment firm.
The sustained buying pressure from Berkshire has provided support for Lennar’s share price relative to competitors. While industry heavyweight D.R. Horton declined 1.5% during Tuesday’s session, Lennar experienced only a modest 0.2% decrease.
<h3 id="berkshire-s-strategic-housing-portfolio">Berkshire’s Strategic Housing Portfolio</h3>
Berkshire’s housing interests already include Clayton Homes, America’s dominant manufactured housing producer. Independent valuations suggest Clayton could command a standalone valuation exceeding $25 billion based on current operational performance.
Clayton commands approximately 50% market share in manufactured housing. The remaining market is largely divided between Champion Homes and Cavco Industries.
The conglomerate acquired Taylor Morrison this past July in an $8.5 billion transaction, including assumed debt. Following the acquisition’s completion, CEO Greg Abel has emphasized expanding Clayton’s traditional site-built housing operations.
<a href="https://knockoutstocks.com/stock/LEN" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Lennar</a> operates under the leadership of CEO Stuart Miller, who maintains control through ownership of the company’s super-voting Class B shares. Any potential acquisition would require his consent.
Lennar’s current market capitalization approaches $20 billion, an amount well within Berkshire’s financial capabilities. Neither organization has publicly discussed long-term intentions regarding the investment.
<h3 id="quarterly-performance-and-wall-street-sentiment">Quarterly Performance and Wall Street Sentiment</h3>
Lennar’s latest quarterly report disappointed investors. The company posted earnings per share of $1.23, falling short of the $1.29 consensus estimate.
Total revenue reached $8.05 billion, trailing analyst projections of $8.32 billion. This represented a 9% year-over-year decline.
Analyst coverage includes seventeen investment research firms. The breakdown shows nine sell recommendations, seven hold ratings, and only one buy rating.
Citigroup recently lowered its price objective to $85 from $88. BTIG maintains a sell rating with a $63 target, while Argus holds a more optimistic view at $108.
Year-to-date, Lennar shares have declined nearly 20%. The stock currently trades at less than half its 2024 peak of approximately $185.
The company’s market capitalization stands at $19.77 billion with a price-to-earnings ratio of 15.51. Over the past twelve months, shares have fluctuated between $75.70 and $133.76.
Management announced a quarterly dividend of $0.50 per share. This distribution translates to an annualized yield of 2.4%, scheduled for payment on October 22.
