LINK has set higher highs and higher lows since mid-August without breaking its trend.

The rally has no single dominant catalyst, as institutional announcements arrived every few weeks.

Smaller holders have been selling into the advance rather than driving it.

Overbought momentum raises the risk of a pause inside the uptrend.

Chainlink’s LINK token has more than doubled from its June low below $7 to $15.17, but the size of the move says less than its shape. Since mid-August, LINK has climbed inside a rising channel on the daily chart, and every pullback has ended above the previous one. The advance extended on Monday as Chainlink launched CCIP 2.0, its upgraded cross-chain protocol for tokenized assets. Santiment data shows smaller holders selling into the rally, which points to a trend carried by larger buyers and steady institutional adoption rather than retail enthusiasm.

The mid-September dip was the real test. LINK fell about 20% from its early-September high, yet it stopped exactly on the channel’s lower line and the 50-day moving average. Last week’s pullback ended higher, around $12.20. Each time, sellers failed to push the price back to its previous floor.

The longer trend has turned as well. LINK reclaimed its 200-day average near $9 in early August, and two weeks later the 50-day crossed above it, forming a golden cross. The 200-day line, which fell steadily from March through July, now points higher. Binance volume reached 6.84 million LINK on Monday, the heaviest session since the August breakout.

Five Chainlink Deals in Seven Weeks, None of Them the Whole Story

In August, the Wyoming Stable Token Commission migrated its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP under a multi-year exclusive agreement. On August 24, Coinbase chose Chainlink as the oracle for Coinbase Tokenized Stocks, onchain versions of shares such as NVDA and AAPL on Base. Since September 25, Aave V4 on Base has accepted seven of those tokens as collateral for USDC loans, priced by Chainlink feeds. In September, Bottomline, which processes more than $16 trillion in payments a year for over 600 banks, announced work with Chainlink on blockchain settlement, and Wyoming added Chainlink Proof of Reserve for FRNT. CCIP 2.0 followed on Monday, backed by AWS, Google Cloud, Fidelity International, ANZ Bank and Deutsche Börse Group’s Crypto Finance. Much of this traces back to April, when attackers drained about $292 million from Kelp DAO’s LayerZero-based bridge, which relied on a single verifier. Kelp later moved its rsETH to Chainlink, and Wyoming began its own security review of LayerZero after that exploit.

Bigger announcements earlier in the year did not stop LINK from falling. DTCC said in May that its Collateral AppChain would run on the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE), and in June banks managing more than $10 trillion unveiled Project Pangea, a framework for same-day FX settlement with stablecoins. LINK hit its yearly low in that same stretch. In our reading, the market has rewarded live products over plans: FRNT and Coinbase’s tokenized stocks depend on Chainlink every day, while the spring deals described future launches. The sequence also cuts the other way. LINK’s first leg began before any of the August deals were public, so the deals extended a move that had already started rather than igniting it.

The Reserve Bought 1.44 Million LINK in a Single Quarter

Adoption only helps the token if revenue reaches it. The Chainlink Reserve uses income from enterprise contracts and onchain services to buy LINK, and it added more than 1.44 million tokens in Q2 alone. Its holdings have since passed 6 million LINK, worth more than $90 million at today’s price, or roughly 0.8% of circulating supply. Smart Value Recapture adds another stream by reclaiming value from DeFi liquidations that MEV bots would otherwise capture, and it had recovered more than $23 million by the end of Q2.

The bank-facing design makes that revenue stickier. Banks working through Bottomline keep sending instructions through their existing Swift systems while CRE handles the blockchain side. Once an institution wires its operations through that layer, switching providers becomes expensive.

Santiment Counts Fewer LINK Wallets With Every New High

Non-empty LINK wallets fell to 912,020 as the price reached $14.89, according to Santiment. Two months ago the count had just crossed 900,000, with LINK near $7.90. Holders accumulated while the price stagnated and sold once it climbed. Santiment notes that the decline is not automatically bearish, since larger participants may be absorbing the supply, but the data does not show who bought. Top 50 wallets hold about 51.1% of supply, though many belong to exchanges and staking pools.

With RSI above 70, the price has risen fast enough that a pause would not be unusual. Momentum is also weaker than at the previous two peaks while price is higher, a bearish divergence that often precedes consolidation but does not signal a reversal by itself. LINK trades about 31% above its 50-day average, and the last two touches of the upper channel line led to pullbacks of 13% and 20%.

A pullback that holds above $12 would leave the channel and the higher-low sequence intact. A daily close below $11.50 would break both for the first time since August. A decisive close above $15.50 would take LINK out of the channel and put $17 in play.

DTCC’s Q4 Launch Is the Next Test Beyond the Chart

DTCC’s Collateral AppChain is due to go live in Q4 2026, which would put Chainlink into production at a central US market utility. Chainlink’s dashboard will show whether CCIP 2.0 moves the numbers: total value secured stands at $56.6 billion and CCIP has handled $24.12 billion in cumulative transfers. Even at $15, LINK remains about 71% below its May 2021 record near $52.90, and the Q3 Reserve figures will show whether revenue from live institutional products is starting to close that gap.
