<p>Tom Lee defended the idea of a very favorable period for cryptos over the next twelve months in an interview given to Wealthion. His main argument concerns the change in stance of traditional finance. For him, this shift has truly accelerated in the past year and a half, with <a href="https://www.cointribune.com/en/wall-street-takes-control-of-the-crypto-market-with-a-historic-record/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Wall Street’s growing interest in blockchain</a>, tokenized securities, stablecoins, and the rebuilding of certain infrastructures on crypto networks.</p>

<p>Lee notably relies on the positions of Vlad Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, and Larry Fink, head of BlackRock, regarding the shift of financial assets towards blockchain infrastructures. According to him, this break with the previous fifteen years is related to the fact that the financial system now considers this technology as a tool. He <a href="https://news.bitcoin.com/crypto-news/tom-lee-sees-bullish-12-months-as-wall-street-embraces-crypto/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">states</a>: <em>“It’s the case now”</em>.</p>

<p>In his analysis, this evolution is based on various transformations already visible in the discourse of major financial institutions :</p>

<p>Lee’s thesis does not rely exclusively on an expected price increase. It assumes that crypto demand can sustainably rely on broad financial uses stemming from the integration of blockchain into the operation of traditional markets.</p>
<h2 id="bitmine-strengthens-its-crypto-bet-on-ethereum-as-it-approaches-its-goal">BitMine strengthens its crypto bet on Ethereum as it approaches its goal</h2>
<p>Such conviction is visible in BitMine’s balance sheet. The company bought an additional 27,180 ETH, bringing its holdings to 5.96 million ETH as of September 13. Thus, this reserve constitutes nearly 4.9% of the 122 million ETH in circulation. BitMine would have accomplished about 98% of the way towards its goal of holding 5% of Ethereum’s total supply.</p>
<p>This positioning gives a financial dimension to Lee’s defended scenario. Hence, tokenization and stablecoins would create demand related to uses beyond trading and bring blockchains closer to capital markets.</p>
<p>Lee believes Ethereum is particularly exposed to this change. This conviction is evidenced through BitMine’s portfolio because the company directly commits its balance sheet to the hypothesis of an important role for the network in tokenized finance.</p>
<h2 id="h-the-market-cycle-supports-the-thesis-while-the-clarity-act-weakens-it">The market cycle supports the thesis, while the CLARITY Act weakens it</h2>
<p>The third component of his scenario is cyclical. Thus, Lee thinks that much of the leverage that contributed to last year’s liquidations has been eliminated, leaving a healthier market structure. He also considers that the traditional four-year crypto cycle would approach a bottom point in the weeks following his remarks.</p>
<p>Stocks related to the sector also support his reasoning. Four of the 21 best performances of the Russell 1000 in the third quarter could come from companies exposed to cryptos, while BitMine had shown a 99% increase at the time of the interview.</p>

<p>However, his scenario faces a political obstacle. Lee had cited the progress of the CLARITY Act among possible catalysts. Nevertheless, <a href="https://www.cointribune.com/en/clarity-act-falls-short-with-49-votes-in-the-senate/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">the US Senate rejected cloture of the debate</a> by 49 votes for and 50 against on September 15, whereas 60 votes were needed to pass this procedural step.</p>
<p>Also, Lee’s previous bullish projections have not all materialized. His scenario remains a hypothesis. The upcoming weeks will tell whether <a href="https://www.cointribune.com/en/for-pwc-institutional-adoption-of-cryptocurrencies-is-now-irreversible/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">institutional adoption</a>, the cycle’s momentum, and the growing exposure of traditional markets to cryptos are enough to offset political resistance.</p>
