Morpho

Coinbase is bringing its Morpho-powered USDC lending product to Brazil, letting eligible customers lend the dollar-pegged stablecoin USDC and earn variable interest. The rollout expands a service that runs on Morpho, an onchain lending network, and marks another step in Coinbase's push to offer crypto earning tools in new countries.

Coinbase said its DeFi Earn service will roll out to eligible customers in Brazil over the coming days, per its official USDC earning announcement dated September 9, 2026. That wording matters: it describes a phased launch, not instant access for every Brazilian account. So if you hold a Coinbase account in Brazil, you may not see the feature immediately. Availability depends on eligibility and the rollout schedule, which Coinbase has not detailed publicly. This continues a pattern of Coinbase widening its product map country by country. The company recently expanded its Webull crypto partnership to Canada, another example of features arriving in one market at a time. Geographic rollouts of financial products often move in stages, much like Russia's staged expansion of digital ruble access through major banks. Coinbase's Brazil launch appears to follow a similar step-by-step approach.

Morpho's role in Coinbase's USDC lending offering

Morpho is an onchain lending network, meaning it is software that matches lenders and borrowers directly through automated programs on a blockchain. Coinbase does not lend the money itself; it routes user funds into Morpho.
Here is the flow, as reported by crypto.news. A customer picks an amount of USDC to lend in the Lending tab of the Coinbase app, and Coinbase then moves that USDC onchain to Morpho.
The USDC lands in a vault, which is a pool of funds managed under set rules. The report identifies Steakhouse Financial as the curator of that vault, and it attributes to Coinbase the claim that the vault was audited. The audit document itself was not available for review.
The historical version of this product, launched in September 2025, integrated Morpho on Base, Coinbase's own blockchain, using smart contract wallets and Steakhouse-curated vaults. That confirms the underlying design, not that Brazil uses an identical, separately inspected vault.
Interest comes from borrowers. People who borrow post crypto as collateral and pay interest, and that interest funds the returns for lenders. Rates move with supply and demand in the lending market rather than being fixed by Coinbase.

What users in Brazil should verify before participating

Because rates are variable, the headline numbers floating around are not promises. The 2025 launch advertised yields of up to 10.8% APY, while more recent reporting cites up to 7.4% APY. Neither is a guaranteed Brazilian rate.
So before treating any figure as your own return, check the actual offer displayed inside your Coinbase account. That is the number that applies to you, and it can differ from anything quoted in news coverage.
On withdrawals, the report says there is no fixed lock-up, and Coinbase lets users pull out USDC and accrued rewards at any time. It also notes that real access can depend on available liquidity in the lending market, so a withdrawal is not always instant.
Do not confuse this with Coinbase's separate USDC Rewards program. The Brazil report treats onchain lending and regular USDC Rewards as different services with different payment mechanisms.
The scale of USDC itself gives some context. The stablecoin carried roughly $74.28 billion in global market capitalization in the September 9, 2026 research snapshot, trading at about a dollar. That figure measures the whole USDC market, not Coinbase lending deposits or Brazilian adoption.

A few things still need verification against Coinbase's own documentation once the Brazil launch is fully live: exact eligibility rules, any fees or limits, and country-specific risk disclosures. Coinbase's primary announcement page was not readable during research, so those terms remain unconfirmed here.
Some claims circulating are not confirmed. According to unconfirmed reports, the Brazil rollout may include a higher-yield vault linked to Ethena, but the fetched reporting says Coinbase has not confirmed that inclusion. Treat that, and any promise of a universal Coinbase One rate boost, as unverified.
The practical takeaway for a Brazilian Coinbase user: watch for the Lending tab to appear, read the rate and withdrawal terms shown in the app, and remember that your money is being lent through Morpho, where returns and access both depend on live market conditions.
