Can a lender confirm collateral is real without ever seeing it? This Chainlink News Today update covers a new integration built around that exact question. Space and Time has adopted the Chainlink privacy standard to power its Virtual Vaults.
LINK traded near $12.50 at last check, down 1.01% over 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap data. Market cap sat near $9.35 billion, with volume near $357.2 million. This Chainlink News Today report explains what the integration does, and what it does not yet prove.

Chainlink confirmed the news through its official account, saying Space and Time now uses the Chainlink privacy standard for its Virtual Vaults product. Space and Time describes Virtual Vaults as custom credit vaults, where collateral backing a loan is cryptographically proven.

Each vault ties to a single lending agreement, covering eligible assets, venues, and risk thresholds. The vault is then verified continuously against live data, rather than through periodic reports. Space and Time says lenders can verify backing assets held on private venues, including exchange accounts, prime brokers, and internal systems.

Chainlink News Today: How Confidential HTTP Works

Chainlink's own documentation describes Confidential HTTP as a privacy-preserving service that lets a workflow call external APIs while keeping credentials, request data, and responses confidential. It runs inside a secure enclave, separate from normal node memory.
In this integration, Confidential HTTP brings private collateral data in without exposing it directly. Space and Time then runs the lender's own verification query against that data and settles a zero-knowledge proof of the result onchain.
This Chainlink News Today breakdown keeps the distinction clear. The lender does not see raw account balances or trading positions. It receives a verified answer to a specific question, such as whether collateral meets an agreed threshold.

Why Private Collateral Matters

Institutional borrowers often hold backing assets across many venues at once, including centralized exchanges, DeFi protocols, OTC desks, and internal systems. Traditional reporting methods rely on periodic snapshots, which can miss real-time changes in collateral value.
This gap has been one barrier to institutional onchain lending. Verifying backing assets usually meant exposing sensitive account details to a counterparty. This Chainlink News Today integration targets that specific friction point, rather than claiming to solve institutional lending outright.
The scale of lending expected to use this system has not been publicly disclosed. Whether it drives meaningful institutional adoption remains an open question, not a confirmed outcome.

The Bottom Line

This Chainlink News Today update points to a real infrastructure step, not a finished product claim. Space and Time can now verify private collateral through the Chainlink privacy standard, using Confidential HTTP and onchain proofs. Whether this becomes a meaningful driver of institutional crypto lending will depend on real usage in the months ahead.
