Bittensor’s native cryptocurrency TAO climbed 8.3% to close at $264.83 on Monday, reaching an intraday peak of $277. This marks TAO’s highest level in three months and extends a five-day rally that has driven the token approximately 25% higher from its baseline near $220 at the start of September.

TAO gains momentum through new integrations

The surge follows TAO’s breakout above a key downward trendline, which had previously contained the token’s price action for several weeks. Trading data from CoinGlass shows that 24-hour futures volume soared 158% to $868 million, while open interest now stands at $434.6 million, a three-month high. This level of activity highlights the renewed interest in TAO among both spot and derivatives traders.

Raydium, a leading decentralized exchange (DEX) on the Solana network, recently introduced trading pairs for TAO. This move has linked the AI-focused token with Solana’s broader decentralized finance ecosystem, making TAO more accessible to DeFi participants. Shortly after, Buttensor—a newly launched meme-inspired crypto project on Raydium—entered the scene with a unique tokenomics structure.

Buttutensor converts transaction fees from its ecosystem directly into TAO purchases, with accumulated tokens distributed to holders of its own native coin. By tying fee conversion to TAO acquisitions, Buttensor is generating continuous buy pressure for the original Bittensor token in tandem with meme coin trading volumes.

Social activity around TAO has also risen, with monitoring from Santiment showing its social dominance metric increasing from 0.05% to 0.12% following these collaborations and launches. The debut of OpenAI’s ChatGPT-6 Astra has helped direct extra attention toward artificial intelligence-linked tokens, including TAO.

Major protocol upgrades reinforce Bittensor’s fundamentals

Throughout August and into September, Bittensor introduced significant changes to its core protocol. Version 440 launched the Emission Gate mechanism, linking subnet rewards to market demand. If a subnet meets demand thresholds, it receives emissions correlated to price, but those that fall short see nearly all emissions halted. Additional releases—V441, V446, V447, and V448—brought further refinements to staking systems, alpha calculations, and subnet governance processes.

The launch of Version 450 marked a shift to a validator-curated root basket system, which places a concentration cap of 1/16 to achieve more balanced exposure between eligible subnets. Meanwhile, Chainlink’s interoperability technology has expanded TAO’s cross-chain capabilities, linking Bittensor to Robinhood Chain. The Bittensor Exploit Summit is scheduled to take place on September 28 and 29.

Technology analysts have noted that Gittensor’s RTX 5090-optimized Qwen3.8-27B model witnessed over 500,000 downloads on Hugging Face this week, reflecting growing developer interest in decentralized AI innovation. Developers have also highlighted the integration of GPT-6 Astra into Bittensor protocols, bringing advanced AI resources directly to the TAO network.

TAO’s technical outlook and price targets

Market observers have identified $260 to $265 as a new support range for TAO following its trendline breakout, with resistance forming between $277 and $280. If these resistance levels are surpassed, analysts indicate that $300 will be the next area of interest for bullish traders.

Open interest in TAO derivatives has reached $434.6 million, underscoring the increase in leveraged investor participation as the price approaches key resistance levels. According to crypto analyst CryptoPatel, TAO has rallied 89% from his previously defined accumulation zone, with the analyst keeping a long-term target of $3,000 on the table. He also noted that $300 to $350 may serve as the next trigger zone for another potential surge.

TAO’s technical landscape shows strong support at $260–$265 and immediate resistance at $277–$280, with $300 in sight as the rally continues and leveraged participation grows.
