Internet Computer News: ICP's Transaction Count Surges Past Ethereum

Internet Computer News is trending after fresh data showed ICP has processed 81 times more transactions than Ethereum since its 2021 launch.
The figures come from analytics platform Chainspect and were shared by crypto outlet BSCN on September 7, 2026. The gap has renewed debate over how different layer-1 networks measure and achieve scale.

What the BSCN Report Says About ICP and Ethereum

According to the September 7 post, Dfinity's network has processed close to 301 billion transactions in total since launch. Ethereum, described in the same post as the world's most popular network, has processed just 3.7 billion transactions over its history.
Key figures from the report:

Total transactions on the network: roughly 301 billion

Transaction gap: about 81 times higher on Internet Computer

Why the Subnet Model Drives Higher Throughput

Dfinity's chain splits its workload across dozens of independent subnets, each running its own consensus process in parallel. This design lets transactions settle at once instead of queuing behind a single execution layer, pushing throughput far higher than chains built on one shared layer.
Ethereum processes transactions sequentially on its base layer, with most scaling handled by external rollups rather than the chain itself.
That structural difference sits at the center of this Internet Computer News story, explaining why the two networks post such different totals even though both are classified as layer-1 blockchains.
Supporters see the subnet model as proof the network can handle real-world application load without off-chain scaling. Critics note raw transaction counts alone don't capture differences in value, complexity, or economic activity between the two chains.
The broader conversation around this Internet Computer News topic now includes this scaling debate as much as market performance.

The transaction figures emerged as the token also saw a sharp market move. The token traded near $3.04 at the time of writing 07 September 2026, up over 14% across the previous day.

What This Internet Computer News Update Means Going Forward

This report arrives at a time when investors are paying closer attention to network fundamentals rather than short-term charts alone. A high transaction count does not guarantee token gains, but it does suggest steady usage across the network's subnets.
Whether the network can sustain both its activity levels and its recent momentum will likely depend on continued application growth and broader market conditions.
For now, the comparison between ICP and Ethereum adds another data point to the ongoing conversation about how blockchains should be measured, whether by transaction count, value settled, developer activity, or market performance.
Traders following this Internet Computer News thread will likely watch whether the activity gap continues to widen in the weeks ahead.

Conclusion

The 81x transaction gap between ICP and Ethereum, as reported by BSCN using Chainspect data on September 7, 2026, points to a real difference in on-chain throughput between the two networks.
This Internet Computer News moment does not settle the wider debate about blockchain scaling, but it does add fresh data for anyone comparing layer-1 activity heading into the rest of 2026.
