South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb has announced a temporary suspension of ThunderCore (TT) withdrawals, scheduled to begin at 4:00 a.m. UTC on August 28. The move is part of the token’s planned network transition, a process that often requires exchanges to pause services to ensure technical stability and user asset safety.

Why is Bithumb Suspending TT Withdrawals?

According to the exchange’s official notice, the suspension is necessary to support ThunderCore’s network transition. Such transitions typically involve protocol upgrades, hard forks, or migrations to a new consensus mechanism, which can temporarily affect network functionality. By pausing withdrawals, Bithumb aims to prevent transaction failures, lost funds, or other technical issues that could arise during the switch.

The suspension will specifically affect TT withdrawals, while deposits and trading may continue as usual, though users should check the exchange’s latest announcements for any changes. The exchange has not yet provided a specific timeline for when withdrawals will resume, but similar maintenance windows in the past have ranged from a few hours to several days, depending on the complexity of the upgrade.

What Does This Mean for TT Holders?

For users holding TT on Bithumb, the temporary suspension means they will not be able to move their tokens to external wallets during the specified period. This is a standard precautionary measure, but it could impact traders who rely on quick transfers for arbitrage or other strategies. Those planning to withdraw TT should do so before the deadline to avoid inconvenience.

ThunderCore is a blockchain platform focused on high throughput and scalability, and its network upgrades are typically aimed at improving performance or introducing new features. While the exact details of this transition have not been disclosed, participants in the TT ecosystem should monitor official ThunderCore channels for more information.

How to Stay Updated

Bithumb users are advised to follow the exchange’s official announcements for updates on the resumption of withdrawal services. The exchange usually posts notices in both Korean and English, and users can also check the ThunderCore project’s social media and blog for technical details about the upgrade.

Conclusion

Bithumb’s temporary suspension of TT withdrawals is a routine but important measure to support ThunderCore’s network transition. While it may cause short-term inconvenience, it is designed to protect user assets and ensure a smooth upgrade process. Traders and holders should plan accordingly and stay informed through official channels.
