If regulators approve the conversion, ZCH would become the first U.S. spot ETF dedicated specifically to the privacy-focused cryptocurrency. Grayscale also plans to rename its existing investment vehicle, the Zcash ETF, under the proposed structure. Additionally, the company established an annual sponsor fee of 2.5% for the planned fund. Bank of New York Mellon would serve as transfer agent, while Coinbase Custody Trust Company would handle the fund’s cryptocurrency custody arrangements. These appointments provide greater clarity around the operational framework Grayscale intends to establish before a potential launch. According to Bloomberg Intelligence ETF analyst James Seyffart, <a href="https://x.com/JSeyff/status/2090898830648606739" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Grayscale</a> appears to be closer to converting the existing trust into an ETF. Moreover, an earlier amendment revealed that a Digital Currency Group subsidiary was discussing contributing approximately 200,000 ZEC to the fund. Grayscale already operates cryptocurrency ETFs connected to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and XRP. However, ZCH would extend its product lineup into the privacy-focused cryptocurrency market. Zcash launched in 2016 with privacy features forming a central part of its blockchain design. SEC approval would give ZEC its first dedicated spot ETF structure within the United States. Grayscale still requires regulatory approval before completing the proposed trust conversion.
