Chainlink

Chainlink is working to become the operating system for tokenized finance by supplying the data feeds, cross-chain messaging, and settlement tools banks need to move real securities onchain.
A November 2025 Messari report found Chainlink powers more than 80% of data feeds and interoperability tools used across real-world asset (RWA) markets, a lead that has held through 2026.

What Does "Operating System For Tokenized Finance" Mean?

An operating system is the base layer other software runs on. Chainlink applies that idea to finance. It started as a decentralized oracle network feeding offchain data into smart contracts, and has since grown into a broader layer handling cross-chain settlement, identity checks, and compliance.
By mid-July 2026, Chainlink's tracker showed the network had enabled more than $32 trillion in total transaction value since launch.

How Is Chainlink Building This Infrastructure?

Two components sit at the center of this strategy.

Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP)

CCIP moves tokens and data safely between blockchains. After more than $650 million was lost to bridge hacks in 2026, projects including Mantle, Lombard Finance, and Kraken shifted over $7 billion in token value onto CCIP in the second quarter. Aave made CCIP its default cross-chain engine in mid-July, and Mantle moved its $2.5 billion bridge onto the same protocol.

Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE)

CRE links legacy financial systems to blockchain applications. DTCC, the world's largest securities clearinghouse, is building CRE into its Collateral AppChain, targeting a full launch in Q4 2026. On July 15, 2026, DTCC ran its first live production trades of tokenized U.S. securities using Chainlink's interoperability layer.

What Is Project Pangea?

Project Pangea is Chainlink's newest push into banking. Launched June 23, 2026, it pairs Chainlink with 47 European and South Korean banks, via consortiums Qivalis and UniKA, managing over $10 trillion in assets.
The goal is cutting EUR/KRW foreign-exchange settlement from the standard two-day (T+2) cycle to near-instant (T+0) using regulated stablecoins, with Chainlink supplying the data and CCIP middleware. It remains a pilot, with live transactions targeted within a year.

Which Institutions Are Already Using Chainlink?

Adoption spans traditional finance and DeFi:

Fidelity International used Chainlink's data feeds for net asset value on its $20 million FILQ tokenized fund.

Robinhood uses Chainlink for its tokenized stock offerings and picked CCIP for its Layer-2 network.

United Stables, whose stablecoin has passed $1 billion in supply, uses Chainlink to secure transfers across three chains.

Coinbase made CCIP its sole bridge infrastructure; SWIFT, Euroclear, and Mastercard have run earlier integrations.

What Does LINK's Price Show Right Now?

Adoption and price have not always moved together this year, though that gap narrowed in late July. LINK jumped about 5% on July 27, 2026, to roughly $8.83, its best weekly performance among the top 20 cryptocurrencies and its highest level since early June.
Two spot ETFs, Grayscale's GLNK and Bitwise's CLNK, trade on NYSE Arca, and the SEC cleared T. Rowe Price's multi-asset crypto fund with LINK as an eligible holding in June 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Chainlink a blockchain? No. It is an oracle and interoperability network connecting to many blockchains, not a chain of its own.
What is CCIP used for? CCIP moves tokens and data safely between blockchains, which is why Aave and Mantle use it for cross-chain transfers.
What is Project Pangea? A Chainlink-backed group of 47 European and South Korean banks testing near-instant, stablecoin-based FX settlement, with live transactions targeted within a year.

Conclusion

Chainlink now provides the oracle data, CCIP cross-chain messaging, and CRE settlement connectivity that DTCC, Fidelity International, Robinhood, and Coinbase rely on for tokenized assets, while Project Pangea extends that infrastructure into bank-to-bank FX settlement. That mix currently supports its role as core infrastructure for tokenized finance.
