Pudgy Penguins — PENGU, is showing fresh strength after weeks of selling pressure. The token now approaches a key resistance level near $0.0063. A breakout above that barrier could attract new buyers. Derivatives data also points toward improving market confidence. Open Interest has climbed alongside price, while funding rates have turned positive. These signals suggest traders are preparing for further gains. However, PENGU still faces major technical hurdles before confirming a sustained rally.

Derivatives Data Strengthens the Bullish Case

PENGU trades near $0.0062, just below the 50-day EMA at $0.0063. Bulls need a clean break above this level to strengthen the recovery case. A move through the 50-day EMA could improve short-term market sentiment. Traders may view such strength as confirmation of improving momentum. Fresh buying could then push PENGU toward higher resistance levels. Derivatives data already supports the bullish argument. CoinGlass shows PENGU Open Interest has surged since July 30.

Outstanding contracts reached roughly 1.27 billion PENGU coins on Thursday. Rising Open Interest suggests growing participation among derivatives traders. The increase also comes alongside a rising PENGU price. This combination suggests fresh positions are entering the market. Long positioning also shows a slight bullish advantage. CoinGlass recorded a long-to-short ratio of 1.01 on Thursday. A reading above one means long positions slightly outnumber shorts.

Funding rates provide another positive signal for PENGU bulls. The metric turned positive on July 30. By Thursday, funding reached 0.0047%. Positive funding means long traders are paying fees to short traders. Such positioning usually reflects stronger demand for bullish exposure. However, traders should monitor funding during any breakout attempt. The technical picture also shows early signs of improvement.

PENGU Price Forecast: Can Bulls Confirm the Breakout?

PENGU still faces several technical barriers above current levels. The 100-day EMA stands near $0.0069. The 23.6% Fibonacci retracement also sits around $0.0070. This creates a dense resistance zone between $0.0069 and $0.0070. A decisive breakout above that area could strengthen the bullish structure. Buyers could then target the $0.0080 region.

The 38.2% Fibonacci retracement sits near $0.0080. The 200-day EMA also remains nearby at $0.0082. A move above $0.0082 would weaken the broader bearish structure. However, PENGU must defend the $0.0056 support zone. A daily close below that level could trigger deeper selling pressure. Such weakness would undermine the current bullish setup.

Holding above $0.0056 keeps the recovery structure intact. Bulls could then launch another attack toward $0.0063. Breaking that level would provide the first meaningful breakout signal. For now, derivatives data gives traders a reason for optimism. Rising Open Interest shows stronger market participation. Positive funding also indicates growing long exposure.
