Uphold has reportedly informed some XRP holders that it will remove Evernode (EVR) balances credited through the 2024 airdrop, according to an alleged customer email circulating on social media. The reported move has raised concerns because the tokens have remained inaccessible since distribution, while the company has not publicly confirmed the alleged communication.
According to the email, EVR balances received through the March 2024 Evernode airdrop will be removed from customer accounts on August 5, 2026. The message reminded the customer that they never purchased the tokens and that buying, selling, trading, and withdrawal functionality for EVR was never introduced on the platform.
Moreover, the alleged email attributes the decision to two factors: that EVR never reached the liquidity threshold required to support trading, and that regulatory requirements no longer allow Uphold to custody the asset on behalf of customers.
The notice also explains that customers do not need to take any action because the balances will be removed automatically. Consequently, affected users would not receive an opportunity to transfer their EVR to an external wallet before the alleged removal.

The shared email has prompted renewed interest in Uphold’s original support for the Evernode airdrop. According to Uphold’s official X announcement published in August 2023, XRP holders could qualify for the EVR distribution by holding XRP on the exchange during the designated snapshot period.
The company explained that eligible customers would receive EVR tokens based on their XRP holdings, subject to a maximum allocation linked to 50,000 XRP. That announcement encouraged users to keep their XRP on Uphold to participate in the airdrop.

I’m not making accusations… however.. I’m simply laying out the timeline as it appears. Many XRP holders are confused and frustrated by how this… pic.twitter.com/7VAt4WimF3

Evernode completed the distribution in March 2024, and Uphold credited eligible customers with EVR balances. However, customers never gained the ability to buy, sell, trade, transfer, or withdraw the tokens. Instead, they could only view their balances while the assets remained locked on the platform for more than two years.

Community Questions Reported Removal

As the email circulates on X, many XRP holders are not frustrated because they kept their XRP on Uphold specifically to qualify for the Evernode airdrop, receiving tokens that they could not withdraw before the potential removal.
Meanwhile, according to crypto analyst Jungle Inc, Uphold voluntarily supported the Evernode airdrop, accepted approximately 3.9 million EVR allocated to customers, and credited those balances to user accounts, arguing that it created a responsibility to provide users with a practical way to access or realize value from the tokens.

Uphold Yet to Issue Official Public Statement

As of publication, Uphold has not issued an official public statement confirming the reported email or announcing the removal of EVR balances. Likewise, the company has not publicly identified the specific regulatory requirements referenced in the alleged customer communication or explained why withdrawal functionality was never introduced after the March 2024 airdrop.
The alleged email has renewed concerns surrounding Uphold’s handling of the Evernode airdrop. While the email cites liquidity limitations and regulatory obligations, XRP holders are still awaiting an official response addressing the situation and the prolonged restrictions placed on EVR holdings.
