Grayscale Investments filed paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 20, 2026, to launch a Grayscale Worldcoin ETF. The fund would trade under the ticker GWLD on the Nasdaq exchange. It marks the first attempt at a U.S. exchange-traded fund built around the Worldcoin token.

The GWLD exchange-traded fund S-1 registration statement lays out a simple plan. The fund will hold WLD tokens directly and track the token's value, minus fees and other costs. The firm will not use leverage or derivatives inside the fund.
BitGo will act as custodian, keeping the WLD tokens in storage. BNY Mellon will handle the fund's accounting work.

Worldcoin is the token behind the World Network, a project started by OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman through a company called Tools for Humanity. The network uses iris-scanning devices called Orbs to check that a person is a real human and not a bot. People who scan their eyes receive WLD tokens as a reward.
The World Network reports more than 18 million users across over 160 countries as of mid-2026. Here is where WLD stands today:

The token still sits far below its all-time high, and regulators in Kenya and Hong Kong have paused Orb operations in the past over data privacy concerns. Those issues remain part of the backdrop for any Worldcoin ETF review.

Grayscale already runs a wide lineup of crypto funds. The firm converted its Bitcoin Trust into a spot ETF back in 2024, and it now lists 17 ETFs and ETPs on its platform, covering Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Chainlink and other tokens.
Some of those funds hold a single asset, while others lean on staking income or covered-call strategies. A few featured products from the current lineup, priced as of July 20, 2026:

Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF (BTC): $28.80

Grayscale Ethereum Staking Mini ETF (ETH): $18.09

The Worldcoin filing extends that pattern into a token tied to artificial intelligence and digital identity work.

An S-1 filing only starts the process. The SEC still needs to review the document, ask for changes, and eventually declare it effective before GWLD can trade on Nasdaq.
Bitcoin and Ethereum spot crypto ETFs took well over a year to move from first filing to launch. A fast path for this WLD ETF filing could land the fund on Nasdaq within 3 to 6 months if the SEC responds quickly. A slower path could stretch past 9 to 18 months, given WLD's history with privacy regulators.
BitGo's custody role and the lack of derivatives inside the fund could work in Grayscale's favor during review. WLD's smaller size compared to Bitcoin or Ethereum, along with its price swings and past regulatory bans, remain real hurdles for the SEC to weigh.
This filing pushes Grayscale further into tokens tied to artificial intelligence and digital identity work, an area few U.S. fund managers have touched so far. Whether GWLD reaches Nasdaq by early 2027 or later depends on how the SEC treats a token still shaped by privacy disputes and sharp price moves. The next real update arrives once the SEC sends its first round of comments on the S-1.
